If you’ve read my workbook How to Write Your Homepage So it Says What’s Most Meaningful, THIS is the catalpa tree I told you about in the introduction, now draping with beans, in all its late summer majesty.

I have lots of tree friends in my neighbourhood, but this one especially calls to me in sunny Septembers.

It’s one of the great joys of my work to help people find the words for theirs.

Another, is the way it connects me to people all over the world. My digital workbook, How to Write Your Homepage So it Says What’s Most Meaningful has been purchased in 21 different countries so far this year! That is completely amazing to me.

Special thanks to the person from Greece who purchased their copy this morning. It has delighted me all day to think about you and how you might not know you are the first person in your entire nation to have found this resource. You may just end up with the best homepage in all of Greece!

For those who subscribe to my newsletter, you’ll find in your inbox a flash sale ending tomorrow night (plus musings on stars and sturgeon) and, if you read the last one and had a passing wondering … I did end up making it to France. 🥐

There are so many ways to language our thoughts and experiences and so many ways to receive each other’s words.

I love this invitation from NeuroWild to reflect on personal communication style. It’s one of my favourite things about my work - the variety of voices in the world, and the joy of attuning with each, particularly when they are different from my own.

How unpoetic the world would be if our minds and mouths were all the same.

How would I describe my communication style?

Wordy. Detailed. Rambling.
Tangential. Colourful.
Like a wild horse galloping over tufted fields.
Meaningful.
Erratic. Racing.
Direct yet meandering.
Taking the scenic route on a high-speed train.
Like a forest hare.
Loud. Sparkling.
Overwhelming.
Like fireworks.

How would you describe yours?

HOW TO WRITE YOUR HOMEPAGE SO IT SAYS WHAT'S MOST MEANINGFUL
Now available -> https://www.carrieklassen.com/write-your-homepage

In 2021, I took my website writing workbook How to Write a Homepage Your Clients Will Love offline to quickly update. But life got life-y, it was the opposite of quick, and then it became much more than an update. But, I am so pleased with the (extended, belated, hard-won, heartfelt) rewrite. If you've been waiting for it, thank you for your patience with me.

(And if you've been working on something that's not coming as easily as you'd like, if you're navigating limitations or life-y-ness, please be patient with yourself. The world is still in weird times. It's hard out there.)

This new offering is called How to Write Your Homepage So It Says What's Most Meaningful and it's a guided, step-by-step writing process + workbook for people and small organizations doing work that matters.

If you're reading this, I think there's a good chance, that's you.

The homepage drafts the first testers wrote using it were so brilliant I feel like, objectively, I can say it's really, really good. I'm proud of this work. Especially because it's in support of people sharing the stories of *their* work.

Collectively, I think you are the people to improve the DNA of the internet.

If your homepage content isn't as compelling as you think it could be and you've been thinking about writing a new one, or your work is changing and you need new language for it, or you've been feeling a little lost or sad about your work and could use some reflection to reconnect with the bigger purpose of it, I'd love for this to be helpful to you.

I have three small gifts, if you're feeling reflective as this calendar year closes. I hope they remind you of your own wisdom.

✨ INTENTIONS & COMMITMENTS

Whatever happens, we can make this a year of intentional choices. Intentions & Commitments is a simple worksheet of six prompts that can be used for the year, the season, the month, or even daily.

You can download it here: http://carrieklassen.com/intentions

✨ ILLUMINATIONS

I wrote this short journal of self-reflective prompts last solstice as a way to invite some quiet contemplation on loss and spaciousness and light and dark into my early winter.

You can download it here: http://www.carrieklassen.com/illuminations/

✨ WORK AS A PEACE PRACTICE

Work as a Peace Practice is a self-reflective journal for meaning-seekers in uncertain times. For the purposes of this conversation, I’m referring to “work” as anything one does while concentrating with purpose. This isn’t about a job or a service, necessarily. I mean work in a more expansive sense than that. Our own unique doing-while-being. If you've been contemplating how you hope to spend more of your doing-while-being in the coming season, it might be helpful.
