Dear Service Providers, Educators and Community Stakeholders,
You are invited to a community forum—Amplifying Community Voices: A Forum on Anti-Asian Racism from Youth & Parent Perspectives—on May 16, 9:00AM-4:00PM, at the William Doo Auditorium, University of Toronto. This event offers an opportunity for you to learn directly from youth about their experiences of anti-Asian racism (AAR), hear findings from a community-based research project, discuss issues and challenges around AAR that impact your own practice, and brainstorm strategies to address these problems with other community service providers.
Amplifying Community Voices is organized by the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with Hong F**k Mental Health Association (HFMHA), Chinese Canadian National Council - Toronto Chapter (CCNCTO), Scarborough Youth United (SYU), and The Asian Canadian Living Archive (TACLA). This event is supported in part by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and led by Dr. Lin Fang.
This one-day community forum provides an opportunity for you to learn, reflect, and identify action steps. It will feature presentations of research findings led by the University of Toronto team, reflections on community organizing led by CCNCTO, youth-led presentations of social media campaigns, digital storytelling projects, and other knowledge mobilization initiatives. You will also get to share challenges, strategies, and network with other attendees who are interested in implementing change and developing a community-oriented solution to anti-Asian racism that is affecting our youth every day.

Thank you to our volunteers. You all committed your time and energy to make sure we connected with the community by phone or knocking on those doors! Yesterday, so many of you came out to help push us to the finish line!
Thank you to the campaign staff who stood by my side and cheered me on, worked tirelessly all those days and nights to push through to this celebration! Your friendship and perseverance with me through all the ups and downs we encountered together is forever engrained in my heart!
Thank you to my family for your unwavering belief and support in me! Thank you to my husband Germaine- truly the best partner anyone can ask for!
Community, it was a hard-fought battle that we lost in this round, but we cannot give up hope. We made them hear us. They underestimated this Scarborough kid and our community and the fighting spirit that is so deeply engrained in our core. This is Scarborough- to persevere, to speak up/speak out, to stand up, to hold each other up to say- no we deserve better, we deserve more! We demanded that together!
This is our community. This day and the years to come is for all of us and for the generations that will be affected. We must continue to hold them all accountable! We must continue to fight for change!
Thank you Scarborough-Guildwood for the privilege and honour of fighting with you! You will always be home for me. "You'll always be my baby"!🎶🎼🎵
Maraming salamat kapamilya and kommunidad for all the love and support you all showed me in this journey! You are all my inspiration and continued motivation. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!🧡
