The Ontario Good Samaritan Act was brought into law May 4, 2017 to help folks seek medical help without fear of prosecution.
This overdose related law provides legal protection if you’re high or have drugs on you in most situations.
You're only protected by the Good Samaritan act for personal use of small amounts of drugs. You are not covered if:
You have a warrant, are dealing or producing drugs, have a large amount on you, or are committing other crimes.
In those cases: give naloxone! Call 911! Leave right away! And make sure to leave the door open for medical help to access!!!
Always use with a buddy! You will be protected with the Good Samaritan Act act for your own drug use!
Give naloxone, call 911, give a detailed description of where you are, then give rescue breaths while you wait for medical support.
Similar laws exist across Canada and the United States. Check your local laws to make sure you are covered!!!
Follow FOR ALL YOUR HARM REDUCTION NEEDS! 💊💜💉

We're having another Kandi Jam, but this time with a twist! If you're planning to attend, send us 3-5 of your favourite songs, and we will use them to build a playlist we can all listen to while we craft! Song choices definitely don't have to be limited to "rave appropriate" genres or electronic music specifically, so lets get EXTRA creative with our kandi-making and have a musical "jam" session at the same time! January 25th, 168 Bathurst St., 5-7pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! 🥰

Today is World AIDS Day. The first ever World AIDS Day was observed on December 1, 1988. This year, World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNAIDS have said that the theme is ‘let communities lead’. The theme recognizes and celebrates that communities play an important role in the fight against AIDS, but it’s also a call to action to the decision makers to fully support the work of communities and to clear away the barriers that stand in the way. AIDS-related deaths have fallen significantly, and HIV infections are at the lowest point since the 1980s. Even with a huge change in numbers, there is still lots of work to do and support needed.
Here at Trip! we advocate for safe s*x and safe partying, and can provide support and resources to those who want or are in need. Please feel free to reach out for any questions or support! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Today, August 31st, is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). IOAD was initiated in 2001 by Sally J Finn in Melbourne. It's the world's largest campaign to end overdose, remember those who we've lost from overdose without stigma, and recognize the grief of the people left behind. IOAD has a theme each year, and this year's theme is "recognizing those people who go unseen", which is about acknowledging people in our communities who are affected by overdose but might go unseen in the crisis. Overdose has a big impact on various people, from loved ones to community members, harm reduction workers to first responders. It's an important day to many across the globe, and there are lots of ways we can be there for each other, find supports, and get involved. Specifically in Toronto, there are many events happening today for International Overdose Awareness Day, some of which can be found post on our stories. The official IOAD website, overdoseday.com, also has great information. There, you can post a tribute to a loved one who has passed away from an overdose, and find educational resources about overdose and overdose prevention. We also have a post on the Trip! website about overdose and grief which contains resources as well. We're not alone, especially not today. Sending lots of love to all

THIS IS A MINDFULNESS CHECK IN POST.

These questions are designed to help you check in and practice mindfulness mentally, physically and spiritually.

#1 (Mental): What are you doing at the moment? If you’re not doing much and are just scrolling, how do you feel about the content you’re seeing? What are you feeling at this very moment? 🦋

#2 (Physical): What does your body need right now? Have you had enough water, food, sleep, or activity? What would feel the best for your body right in this moment? If you’re having trouble to connect with your body, try sitting up and breathing deeply in, and just observing what feelings or urges come up! 🦋

#3 (Spiritual): What can you be grateful for in this very moment? Even if it’s for having water, a roof over your head, friends, pets, clothes, even if your life sucks at the moment, find one thing in this very second that you’re grateful to have! Heck even if it’s just the device you’re reading this from and an internet connection. 🦋

Hopefully practicing these questions and checking in helped a bit! Practicing mindfulness regularly can be an important part of mental health upkeep. Hopefully we can all find ways to integrate more of it into our days!
