Trump’s success in flipping key swing states solidified his victory, paving the way for a Republican return to the executive branch. The Republican Party also appears poised to control both the Senate and, potentially, the House of Representatives, securing a sweeping mandate in Washington.

This result underscores a shift among American voters, who may see this choice as a repudiation of the current state of neoliberal policies, which some feel have failed to address critical issues. The election was particularly challenging for Kamala Harris, who entered the race later than most major candidates, following Joe Biden’s late decision not to run for re-election. Despite her efforts in a fiercely competitive campaign, Harris faced significant obstacles in establishing her platform and connecting with voters in a short time.

Even if Harris had prevailed, a Republican-controlled Senate would have posed significant hurdles to advancing her policy agenda. With Trump returning to the White House, Americans and the world will be watching to see if his administration takes a different approach over the next four years. For the Democratic Party, this election serves as a call to regroup, refine their message, and cultivate strong leadership that can resonate with voters in future elections.
