Ever wonder what goes behind the design of the Predator Arena Light?

It is a great honour for Pool Lab to become a good friend of Ira Lee - the inventor of the Predator Arena Light- and his business partner Kang Lee. We are proud to feature the Arena Light in our space!

On his trip to visit Pool Lab here in Toronto, Ira shared with us his inspiring story on how he came up with the perimeter rectangle design of the Arena light. He constructed a prototype light board with tiny LED lights embedded into a grid, meticulously hand-soldered onto a board. The board boasted an impressive 49,000 individual LED lights, perfectly aligned with the playing table's surface.

Ira then ran an algorithm to analyze and fine-tune the lighting quality. Surprisingly, the optimal setting was achieved by activating only the perimeter lights and deactivating the interior ones. This was a big shock to Ira and the team as this goes against the traditional lighting method on a pool, which is from a single source of light in the center of the table.

His invention improves contrast on the table and increases players' ability to see the edges of the balls and cushions with more clarity and definition. It has become the new lighting standard for professional pool tournaments.

Bryzen has already made waves in the pool world with a 3rd/4th place finish at the SVB Junior Matchroom event and an impressive 9th-12th placement at the Turning Stone Classic, competing against 128 top players. He’s on the brink of transitioning from a junior prodigy to a professional tour player, and we’re thrilled to support him as he continues his remarkable journey.

With his exceptional talent, unwavering discipline, and undeniable style both on and off the table, Bryzen is set to carry on and elevate our Canadian pool legacy. His dedication, heart, and strong support system make him a standout player to watch.

In just 2 days, Bryzen will compete at the New Zealand World Junior Championship. Will his intense practice and sacrifices pay off? We can’t wait to see if Bryzen’s name will shine at the top!

Celebrate with us as we congratulate our Pool Lab Ambassador, Naomi Williams, for her outstanding performance at the Canadian Women’s Championship! Naomi earned silver in all three categories: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and 10-Ball.

Born and raised in Toronto and known as a fierce player with tons of heart, Naomi has dedicated years to honing her craft. She is very proud to show that women can play just as well as men.

Our partnership with Naomi will allow her to compete more on the Women’s Professional Billiard Tour (WPBA) as well as international events where she can represent Canada.

Welcome Naomi and thanks for being such a good role model in the pool community! We wish you many successes in the future. Let us cheer her on at her next event, the Women's Open Canadian Championship, from the 7th-11st August in Montreal, QC. She will be competing against the best female pool players in Canada!

We are thrilled to announce the signing of an extraordinary young talent to our Junior program – Welcome 13-year-old Antonio Ayala! 🌟 Antonio is the current Canadian 8-ball Junior Champion of Falcon CCS. He also finished in the top 32 of the recent U650 Predator Tournament.

At Pool Lab, our mission is to build and support the next generation of pool champions in Canada. We understand that one of the biggest challenges young players face is the lack of proper training facilities. Most traditional pool halls are bars, making them unsuitable for young players to hang out, practice and hone their skills. That’s where Pool Lab comes in!

DRILL CHALLENGE

Alrighty all our members, head to Pool Lab right now and put in the work as we are kick-starting our very first Drill Challenge for April. Let’s start with a Level 3 drill from PoolBilliards.co that works on the Shot Making and Zone Positioning aspects of your game. Nailing down these cut shots will improve your line and speed for cross-table play tremendously.

Don’t underestimate this drill, we promise it is harder than it looks. See the demo by our house pro Waleed M. Hashem on how to complete this drill. Do you think you can beat it?

1. Balls are set up according to the provided diagrams in the comments.
2. Complete all 07 shots in one go. If you miss one, you have to start the drill again.
3. All object balls have to be pocketed and the cue ball ends in the zone.
4. No scratch or foul.
