Check out this feature about creating safe cycling and pedestrian infrastructure along the Danforth! It was reported last semester by Ryerson School of Journalism student Heidi Lee.
Danforth Avenue is included in the cycling network expansion plan voted in last May by city council.
Reforming Danny | T· Danforth Study is a project initiated by the City of Toronto to examine and reform the six-kilometre Danforth Avenue between Broadview Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.
Take a look at the upcoming temporary protected bike lanes!
One of our supervisors, Alex, snapped these photos of the new expanded bike lane on Dundas Street East! It's one of the first temporary installations in the plan to add 40 km of bike routes in Toronto.
Regenesis Cycle York is taking old bikes! They'll be re-purposing them for those who need bikes while training their volunteers in bike mechanic skills.
Do you have a bike that is gathering dust and/or broken that you want to get rid of? We can take it! Donated bikes will be used to train volunteers in bike mechanics. The spike in demand for bikes due to covid could lead to overproduction and waste, so the more used bikes we get back on the road, the less waste, the less environmental damage!

As a club, we want to amplify the stories of Black cyclists like Major Taylor, who broke numerous speed records over a century ago. He won the world track cycling championship in 1899, becoming the first African American to do so, despite facing discrimination and harassment in the cycling world. Their achievements are worth celebrating and we are proud of them.
We must recognize that cycling is not untouched by injustice and work towards making it safe and free from prejudice. Our club strives to be a safe space for everyone. To Black people, know that we are listening and want to help in whatever way you think we can.

Toronto is starting to reopen washroom and water-replenishing facilities within its parks... great news for those who want to spend more time outside!
Washrooms, water fountains, bottle-filling stations reopen in Toronto parks If nature calls and you’re in one of Toronto parks, you’re in luck.
Big news! After two years since restarting the club, we’ve come up with a more sleek, symbolic logo to reflect what we have become: a vibrant group that uses cycling as a catalyst for social connectedness, recreation, and health among the Ryerson community. We hope you like this new look and feel for RUCC! A huge shout-out to our team members Alex, Melissa, and Chelsey who collaborated to create our new logo.
