The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here. Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Colour of Birth Living Art Exhibition. Get ready to immerse yourself in a celebration of history and culture at .

Interested attendees can join The Colour of Birth Living Art Exhibition and Symposium either in person or online.

Securing your spot through registration is essential, enabling us to plan effectively. Virtual attendance via Zoom is available with limited slots, and registering in advance helps us organize the catering for the reception on Day 2.

The Colour of Birth exhibition will involve the launch of the digital Colour of Birth Gallery and three Panel discussions which will showcase the preliminary findings of the CMOC project, making this the first-of-a-kind historical midwifery presentation from the lens of Black midwives migrating to Canada between the 1800s and 1960s!

The mission of the Colour of Birth Project team is to translate knowledge that will;
1. promote health equity for Black birthing families,
2. increase public knowledge of the strengths and positive contributions of Black midwives from 1800 until now (initially as Canada's first refugees and among the Canadian settlers and immigrants that built Canada);
3. showcase the beauty of Black bodies, Black families and their ancestral traditions.

Meet Collaborator - Dr Maggie McDonald, Associate Professor of Anthropology at York University.

Trained as a medical anthropologist, her work explores how the cultures, actors, and objects of biomedicine, science, and technology (and their alternatives) shape our ideas and practices concerning health, illness and the body with a particular focus on reproduction.
