Carissa was pregnant at 18. When she was diagnosed with preeclampsia, she didn't think much of it until after her son was born, when the risk of organ failure and stroke were mentioned by her doctor.
She wondered if high blood pressure had bigger implications that would affect her later in life. Now, 16 years later, it’s a condition she continues to monitor.
