One of the trickiest aspects of great storytelling is knowing what the point of your story is. It’s tricky because we don’t always know what the point is when we first come up with the idea for the story and then we don’t know how to articulate the point so that it’s memorable.

Songs that have a clear point are also very, very powerful and memorable. The cool parallel between stories and songs is why I now perform a few of my songs as part of my keynotes and presentations. One of the best-known painters in America in the mid-1900's was Andrew Wyeth.

He painted the people and landscapes around him, mostly near his home in rural Pennsylvania and his summer home in Maine. In 1986, a series of over 247 paintings and illustrations were 'discovered' -- all of them of his neighbour, Helga Testorf... and all without the knowledge of either his wife or Helga's husband.

Even today, there's a lot of speculation as to the extent of their relationship. But what is clear is that they had a deep bond of friendship, respect, and yes, love.

As Helga herself said, there are many ways to express love.
