Our ability to bring our knee past our toes on the ground (ankle dorsiflexion) tremendously affects how we move upright. If ankle dorsiflexion is limited, compensations will occur elsewhere in the leg to make up for the limitation.

THE READY MOVE:
Without shoes, place toe on a 10 cm marking and stick at the 0 cm marking (can use a wall instead of a stick). Bend knee over 2nd toe to touch knee to the stick/wall. If you can touch your knee comfortably without…

❌ collapsing your arch
❌ turning your hips
❌ tracking your knee offline
Then repeat on other side. If both side is at least 10 cm and equal on both sides, then your ankle dorsiflexion is Ready!

HOW-TO TIPS:
πŸ”Ί If you feel tightness in the calf, try stretching your gastrocnemius or soleus muscle
πŸ”Ί If you feel tightness in front of the ankle, you may need ankle joint mobilizations
πŸ”Ί If you collapse your arch, you may need intrinsic foot muscle strengthening
πŸ”Ί Previous ankle injuries may affect your ability to do this move. Get assessed to see what you need to do to improve your dorsiflexion

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
πŸ”ΊSufficient ankle dorsiflexion is necessary for pretty much any upright activity (ie. walking, squatting, running, etc). If you lack this ROM, you will compensate using other muscles and joints to achieve more dorsiflexion. Over time, this can cause compensation injuries (like bunions, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, patellar femoral pain syndrome, etc)
πŸ”ΊGood ankle mobility is important to load and unload weight on the leg properly.

: Allan’s () Chronic Back Pain

HIS STORY:
Allan had 15 years of on and off back pain which was treated by various different therapies with little long term relief until he found and underwent Redcord Neurac therapy with our physio, Manni ().
IN HIS WORDS:
I was referred to Manni by my chiropractor. After suffering with chronic back pain for many years, and trying all types of methods and treatment, I am happy to say that Manni and his techniques finally helped me solve the problem.
I was apprehensive about the Redcord technology as I was not familiar with it, but it worked. He diagnosed my muscle imbalances and how I was incorrectly firing my muscles, gave me straightforward exercises to address those problems.
This was the solution I was looking for. It wasn't a band-aid type treatment. If you want to resolve your back pain issues, Manni is the guy. He is great to work with and good at accommodating my schedule.
HOW HELPED:
In Allan’s case, after a Redcord Neurac assessment, Manni found he was not connecting well to his core/hip muscles which led to decreased functional stability and more stress placed on his spinal structures when he exercised. Over time, the combined stress on these structures led to painful episodes. Without addressing his decreased muscle activation, Allan wasn’t able to get any long term pain relief.
With Redcord treatment, Allan was able to restore and improve muscle activation in his core/hips and thus spread the load more evenly across his body. This change in his muscle activation helped him get long term pain relief.

HER STORY:
For a long time, Elizabeth suffered from knee pain without any help until she came to and saw Manni () and Rudy ().
IN HER WORDS:
I injured my left knee about 3 and a half years ago, and my right knee about a year a half ago. I was in a lot of pain. I could barely walk up the stairs, and people almost twice my age were walking faster than me on the street. My knees constantly swelled up and nothing really provided any relief.
I took a friendβ€˜s advice and went to see Manni at Ready Room Health. He really helped me strengthen and connect with the muscles surrounding my knees using Therapy, and giving me exercises to do at home. I can now walk and go up and down the stairs with no pain. My knees are becoming stronger and it feels great.
I also went to see Rudy, the Massage Therapist at Ready Room, and he really helped ease the pain not only in my left knee, but also my right arm and foot.
HOW HELPED:
In Elizabeth’s case, a Redcord assessment revealed that she was overusing some of her leg muscles and underusing others. This imbalance in muscle activation led to increased stress in her knees causing pain. Once assessed, Manni helped Elizabeth connect to her underused muscles better which created more balance and strength in her legs and along with Rudy’s soft tissue release, has decreased her pain!

The Challenge: Lie on a foam roller with your head and hips supported and feet shoulder width apart. Lift up both arms and then lift one leg up and hold for 5 seconds. Try to keep from swaying or falling off the foam roller. Repeat on other side.
Harder version: Extend the leg out while doing the move.
This is a great way to see how well you can control your core stability!

I play multiple sports, and with that, comes injuries. I have had an elbow injury from , a shoulder injury from , and a groin pull from baseball/ .
Each time I have gone to Manni () and the Ready Room () to get fixed up, the recovery time is amazing.
I am usually back playing right away
and back at 100% within 2 weeks.

WHY YOU NEED REGULAR MASSAGE THERAPY

To keep your gums healthy, dentists ask you to floss everyday. They also ask you to see a dental hygienist every 3-6 months so they can use tools to help you get a deeper clean for your gums.
