For us, a Caesar Salad, Is not just a Caesar Salad.
It’s well dressed Romaine Lettuces tossed in garlicky dressing with Anchovies and Croutons.
Finished with Bacon cooked over the fire and generous finish of 2 year old Parmesan.

The Tavern’s Story

Maple Leaf Tavern was origionally built in 1909 and converted to Maple Leaf Hotel in 1935. The Maple Leaf Hotel was owned & operated by the Rachel Moylett, widow of a famous bookie who died a suspicious death, and her son, Eugene Sullivan. These two hired well known Toronto architect, William Henry Mallory to convert the building into the Maple Leaf Hotel.

They operated the hotel and restaurant until 1948, when the property was sold to the Ladavsky Family who operated United Bakers, famous bakery / deli still in operation. During the 1980’s ownership of the Maple Leaf changed hands a few times. At the time the the space devolved into a drinking den for many lost souls.

Late Summer of 2013, the Morgan Family purchased the building with the vision to restore the space to it’s former glory. The Morgan’s operate PORT, a waterfront restaurant 30 minutes east in Pickering. Having grown up in East York, the family knew that the area was ready for an elevated, yet approachable dining establishment.
