Hey all! On Thursday, October 19th we'll be hosting a writing workshop. The goal is to share writing skills and tips that are required for new post-secondary students to succeed in their classes. With a brief overview from Keys for Writers by Ann Raimes & Sarah Norton, this workshop will take a structural approach to essay writing. It will also incorporate activities to help with bibliographic structures & citations. Additional tips will be used to help navigate York University's Scott Library website to show how to research scholarly articles.

See you there!

Black Women Bridging Borders is a non-profit student-run organization that acts as a representative body on behalf of woman of the African Diaspora who relate themselves to the term “Black” as women at York University. We operate as agents for social, political, and economic change within York University and the Jane and Finch Community. Our main focus consists of unifying and empowering black women as well as educating people and creating strong conversations through 3 key components: academia, advocacy, and mentorship. We believe we can create a safe space where black women feel they belong. We value creativity and growth, while also challenging—through service engagement, panel forums, workshops, and events—a society that incorporates the voices of black women both socially and systematically. We try to exhibit the experiences of black women, especially in regards to social issues and the important intersections of gender and race. We believe these are important to understanding and mending the gaps between racial and social inequalities and plan on re-establishing and re-inventing the identities of black women through empowerment and self-definition. We are currently recruiting social media coordinators, Fundraiser coordinator director fundraiser coordinators and and a secretary. You do not need to be a York University student to apply and all our positions are on a voluntary basis and NOT paid.
