Fight Night Jan 23, 2015 09/09/2021

A while back. Sifu Asad Mir has zero boxing experience and not a lot of time as his preparations or this fight started late since he was a last minute addition to the card. Some concentrated and well program conditioning a lot of work on the Thai pads with Kru James Hines and some boxing specific training from Blake Bezan I had him floating like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Swear to God Amir put such a beating down on this dude. It was a pleasure to witness and seeing raise his hands in victory was the best ending to a short training camp.

The culture, the food, the fights, take me baaaack! -

2020 Recreational Membership Application 10/13/2020

We have received the advice that we are able to remain in operation during this modified phase 2 closure due to our professional affiliation with Muay Thai Ontario (MTO).

We will continue to follow all public health guidelines and best practices to keep our community healthy.

Please note that all Old School Members must also hold a recreational membership with MTO to train with us at this time. These memberships are available for free at https://muaythaiontario.org/documents/recreational-membership/

Please visit our Instagram to review the safety protocols there.

Then, as usual, book a spot via our Glofox app and we will see you in class.

2020 Recreational Membership Application Welcome Nak Muay! Whether you've been training for a few days, months, or years, we're all connected with our love of Muaythai.

Hello Friends and Members.

As you have probably seen in the news, the province has ordered gyms to temporarily close effective today, October 10, 2020.

During the last shutdown, we were permitted to reopen earlier than other gyms due to our affiliation with Muay Thai Ontario (MTO), as long as members were registered with MTO. If this can apply to this again in this circumstance, we will update our membership promptly.

Until that time, we will remain closed to help protect the health of our community. Have a happy and healthy long weekend and we hope to see everyone again soon.

As promised in our last email with reopening details, here are some helpful links:

MTO Recreational Membership (FREE and required by the government)
In order to reopen during Stage Two, all members have to hold a free Muay Thai Ontario (MTO) recreational member registration. Our affiliation with MTO allows us to offer training during the current phase of social distancing. I ran through the registration and it took about 5 to 7 minutes -- just select "Old School Muay Thai" from the club menu.

All members must register via the Glofox app, and sign up for classes prior to arriving at the gym. This is how we manage our memberships, and how we will organize classes, capture the info we need for contact tracing, and send out SMS updates.

Old School Muay Thai Reopening -- Questions for Members 07/01/2020

Hello Family, Friends and Members.

Good news -- we have the potential to re-open in July and have just sent out an email to our mailing list. Please read below:

We are writing to ask two things of you:
1. please read the content below, and
2. please fill out a 2 minute survey to help us serve you better (link below)

Because of our affiliation with the provincially sanctioned organization, Muay Thai Ontario, there is a pathway to Old School Muay Thai potentially opening in July.

Government required conditions of re-opening:

1. Change rooms, lockers and showers cannot be used by any members. Everyone will have to change before they come to work out.

2. Classes will be "no contact" -- no pad holding, no sparring, no kicking or clinching.

3. Members would each have a defined space on the gym floor during the class to respect social distancing.

4. Only one member can work on a bag at a time, and would have to clean it before and after use.

5. Any person entering the gym has to self-screen for Covid-19 and agrees to NOT enter if anything flags as a risk to themselves and others.

6. Members will need to sign up for a free "recreational" membership with Muay Thai Ontario in order to access the gym (affiliation with MTO is what will allow us to offer classes under government regulations).

Gym processes to support the government requirements:

1. Classes will be limited to 8 to 10 members based on the space that social distancing requires. Estimates from MTO are that we can work at about 30% of our usual max capacity. We will be mapping out the gym this week to get the final max number for class sizes and updating the max numbers in Glofox.

2. Members will have to sign up for classes prior to arrival using the Glofox app. We will ask members to be on top of their sign ups, and to cancel at least 24-hours in advance to let others have the spot if they don't need it. We will set up a waitlist for all classes.

3. Classes will be no more than an hour long to allow us to run more classes for our members. An updated schedule will follow. The curriculum will be updated to provide maximum return for the workout, don't worry.

4, Members will need to bring their own water, wraps, and bag for their belongings and shoes. This bag must stay in the member's defined workout spot.

5. Members will arrive for class no earlier than 5 minutes before the start time, and need to leave the gym immediately after the class ends to allow for cleaning before the next group enters. Members should wear a mask when they enter and leave. Social distancing will need to be followed at all times.

6. As noted above, members need to have their own hand wraps, and to keep them on their person (not at the gym). We have new wraps at the gym and can sell you a pair of wraps for $15 if you forget your own.

7. Every member will need to clean their space and any equipment (e.g. heavy bag) before and after use. We will have cleaner at the gym, and will also ask members to bring their own to maximize the time spent working out instead of waiting / minimize sharing of spray bottles.

8. We ask members to sign up for our MailChimp list, enter their cell phone into Glofox for SMS updates, and join our Facebook group to receive info updates in a timely way.

9. We will maintain a clean gym, follow and / or exceed all health guidelines, and do everything we can to ensure the safest workout environment possible.

Next steps:

1. Complete the anonymous Survey Monkey survey here to let us know what works for you. This will help us design the best options for our members. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L9CLBHX

2. Watch for a second email / FB post with links to:
- Muay Thai Ontario recreational member registration (free)
- our Facebook Group
- the Glofox App
- our Instagram profile
- our MailChimp list

3. Get ready to train!

Meanwhile, stay safe, take care of your bodies and minds, and dream of Muay Thai.

Yours,
Kru James and Heather

Memberships are offered at very affordable rates ($119/mth for 12-months; $135/mth for 6-months; $149 for one month; and $75/month for full-time post-secondary students attending the post-sec schedule of classes).
