Re : New Jesuit Chaplain at Brebeuf

The Brebeuf Alumni Association and Brebeuf College School are very pleased to announce that as of September, 2024 Brebeuf will have a Jesuit priest serving as a volunteer chaplain at Brebeuf on a full-time basis.

Fr. Michel Boutillier, S.J. comes to Brebeuf with a wealth of experience serving in Jesuit high schools in Canada, including years of teaching and chaplaincy at both Loyola High school in Montreal and St. Paul’s High School in Winnipeg. Fr. Michel will work very closely with the Brebeuf chaplaincy team to build upon the Jesuit presence at Brebeuf and help fulfill the mandate of the Jesuit endorsement signed in June, 2022.

The role of Fr., Michel in the upcoming school year will be as full time chaplain, working in conjunction with the chaplaincy team of Brebeuf staff members Eric Guy ’82 and Rob Gregoris. Fr. Michel’s many responsibilities will include serving as a liaison with the Canadian Jesuits and the Toronto Jesuit communities, helping to guide the daily liturgical life of the school, supporting the Kairos Retreat program, class retreats and Ignation formation. Fr. Michel will also serve on the Brebeuf Jesuit Executive council.

While this appointment helps further enhance the Jesuit presence at Brebeuf, this new position does add some additional costs to the school budget which are not covered by the TCDSB. Accordingly, we are reaching out to the Brebeuf community to ask for your financial support. With a goal of raising $25,000 to cover these costs, we would welcome any financial gift you can provide, whether it is $100.00 or $10,000.00.

All donations over $10.00 will receive a charitable tax receipt from the Jesuits of Canada. You can donate in one of two ways :

Below is an announcement re: Father Andrew Taylor '11 by Monsignor Pat O'Dea of St. Edward's Parish.

Archbishop Francis Leo, Archbishop of Toronto, has appointed Rev. Andrew Taylor as an Associate Pastor, to St. Edward the Confessor Parish, effective July 1, 2024.

Fr. Taylor was born in Barrie, Ontario, and grew up in Aurora as the fourth of eight children. He was homeschooled during most of his elementary school years and had the opportunity to attend and serve daily Mass for those years. Starting in Grade 9, he attended Brebeuf College in Toronto.

After completing Grade 12, in 2011, he began formation for the priesthood at Serra House while studying philosophy at St. Philip's Seminary, in Toronto. He spent one year at the Newman Centre, and then entered St. Augustine's Seminary in 2015. His first assignment was to St. Michael's Cathedral. He was then sent to Ottawa to assist at the Nunciature.

The Holy Father has ambassadors in every country, called nuncios, and the Nunciature in Ottawa has priests assisting in specific duties. Cardinal Collins appointed Fr. Taylor to this ministry, February 1, 2022 to assist as the English language secretary.

Fr. Taylor is looking forward to his new ministry at St. Edward's Parish, and Msgr. Pat warmly welcomes him to the pastoral team. Please pray for Fr. Taylor in this time of transition. May God Bless him and his priesthood.
