Christa Veinotte, International Equine Massage Therapist
Est. 1999, registered in 3 provinces, completed 60 000 treatments, & developed Hestaband K-Tape.
I have so many questions.
From Hestaband tapers -
"This tape lasted a whopping 10 days!"
"I love this tape. It is magic for taking out swelling."
On a barrel racer -
"He was out of pain by that time and the inflammation was nearly completely resolved within 24 hours!"
Final day of our Flash Sale where you can save $5.00 off each roll of Lymph.

Developed by a Canadian therapist!
A good rule to follow - always apply the Lymph tape proximal to distal. This is to help increase circulation and clear the area around the site. Applying the tape in this way, will give the stagnant fluid somewhere to drain into.
What happens to the excess fluid? It either gets rerouted through the heart and pumped around the body again or excreted out via the kidneys.
It is best to use Cotton as anchors with no stretch when edema is present. It has elastic fibers so not to restrict the flow of fluid. It will stretch enough to permit the fluid to evacuate up and out of an area.

This sweet mare has had a rough few weeks.
This was Day 1.
Stay tuned for her progress reports.
A special thank you goes out to the treating veterinarian for the referral. It certainly takes a team effort to work with these horses.

Working on foals is sometimes similar to wrestling little alligators.

Other times, they just lay down and sleep like little angels.

The most important thing is to make sure the area you are working in is safe for you, the foal and the mare.
I originally designed Hestaband Satin in bright colors specifically for foals that I treat. This color palette allows the horse owner to see if the tape is still on when the foal is outside. It also has a very strong adhesive to help it stay on longer and is 70% waterproof.

Social media question:
Are becoming obsolete?
Horses are magic.
New Research Proves Horses Have Super Intelligence
Horses are more intelligent than you think, and they possess advanced cognitive abilities.
Horses show abilities in problem-solving, emotional intelligence, memory, and learning that rank them among the smartest animals.
They have been known to open stable doors and untie knots, revealing their capacity for strategic thinking.
Emotionally, horses form deep bonds with humans and can sense emotions like pride and shame, often responding empathetically to their human companions. Their advanced cognitive skills allow them to understand symbols, communicate preferences, and adapt to complex situations, such as learning and responding to commands in therapeutic environments. In one study, horses demonstrated the ability to adjust their communication based on the knowledge or ignorance of their human caretakers. When the humans were unaware of food hidden in a bucket, the horses increased their use of visual and tactile signals, such as looking, touching, or nudging, to guide the humans to the food.
This flexible cognition shows that horses possess the ability to understand the knowledge state of others—an ability previously thought to be exclusive to some primates. The findings support the idea that horse-human communication is a two-way street, with horses actively trying to convey information to their human companions, much like they communicate within their herds. Compared to other animals, horses may not match the intellectual prowess of elephants but are considered more intelligent than dogs or cats in certain areas. They excel in equine-assisted therapies, using their sensitivity to human emotions to aid in psychological treatment.
If you work long enough in a healthcare profession, you will see clients like this.
And you know in your heart that there is nothing you can offer to comfort them any longer. The internal changes in their bodies have affected their quality of life and it is time to say, "Thank you." and let them cross over the rainbow bridge.
I have been in this scenario many, many times over the past 25 years. It does not get any easier nor have I found a way to dissociate myself from my clients.
Tonight, I began to wonder...
Where do animal healthcare practitioners go to grieve the loss of their clients?

And I'm looking stylish thanks to Rieley Taylor of Taylored Horses for sending this great hat all the way from Arizona!
A Facebook memory from 9 years ago and it is a treatment that I will never forget. ❤️ He was originally from Mexico.
It always amazes me how 1 hour of treatment can change a horse so dramatically. This handsome fella was rescued a few years ago by a wonderful family. When I met him today, he was quite nervous and shy and in obvious discomfort. The scars on his body and the old fracture to his face are details of the life he once had. By the end of our session, he wouldn't leave me alone or stay still enough to have his photo taken. Even his owner was shocked to see how much more confident he became. I am so happy for them both.
