Recently, two of Nightingale's beloved facilitators shared their stories with GuelphToday.com 🕊️

Ruby Lyons and Annie Hammond were both forced to navigate the tumultuous waters of loss at a young age. Their stories, emblematic of the profound impact bereavement programs can have, illustrate a shift from solitude in grief to leadership in healing.

As facilitators at The Nightingale Centre, they now extend a compassionate hand to others, fostering a community that turns grief into shared resilience and growth, proving that within a supportive network, the journey through grief can lead to newfound strength and purpose.

Read more below to learn how Ruby and Annie have channeled their personal experiences of grief into powerful roles of support and guidance.

It was an enchanting afternoon indeed ♡

A little over a month ago, our guests showed up in their High Tea-best and truly exemplified what it meant to bring hope to grieving hearts, together.

We are still filled with immense gratitude, joy, and hope after the inaugural High Tea For Hope and cannot thank our event guests, donors, sponsors, speakers, staff, volunteers, partners and community at large enough for their support of The Nightingale Centre for Grieving Children, Youth and Families.

In case you missed it or want to relive the magic, here’s our recap!

We're already looking forward to High Tea for Hope 2025, stay tuned! ✨

All we can say is WOW. We are filled with so much gratitude, joy and hope following the inaugural High Tea For Hope. 🫖✨⁣

This magical sold out event was made possible by our incredible community of guests, donors, sponsors, speakers, staff, volunteers, partners and community at large in support of The Nightingale Centre for Grieving Children, Youth and Families. Our guests showed up in their High Tea-Best and truly exemplified what it means to bring hope to grieving hearts, together.

Today, we are beyond thrilled to announce that together we have exceeded our goal for our inaugural year and raised over $60,000 and counting to support local children and families who are grieving the death of a special person in their lives. ⁣

These funds will help support our vision to ensure that no child or family in our community grieves alone.⁣

The need is great. There is so much grief—and there are so many programs and services we want to grow so we can continue to support our community and the needs of those who are grieving.⁣

On behalf of the High Tea For Hope Committee, the entire team at The Nightingale Centre, and the children, youth and families that we serve, thank you for helping to bring hope to grieving hearts. 🤍⁣

APRIL 10, 2024: Join us for our 8th event in the Forever Changed Conversation Café Series — Death of a Parent.

The loss of a parent is the most common form of bereavement, and even as adults, we are seldom ready for the death of a mother or father. Regardless of our relationship with our parents, we will always be their children. Whether one is ready for it or not, the death of a parent can bring many losses and changes. At this café, we will hear from and connect with people who share a similar lived experience. Learn where others found support, how they coped or managed.
