Ryan Anthony was a trailblazer and a symbol of hope. Through music, he united an international community. He will be sorely missed.
It is with great sadness that we announce that Ryan Anthony, our beloved father, son, husband, brother and inspiration, passed away this morning, June 23rd, at the age of 51.
We are blessed that so many of you have traveled this long and difficult journey with us. Your prayers and support lifted all of us, but especially Ryan, and inspired him to continue to fight every day.
Please keep his family in your prayers. Ryan leaves behind two children, Elizabeth (Lili) and Rowan; his wife, Niki; mother Ruby Styler and step-father, Stan Styler; father, Roy Anthony and step-mother, Cathi Anthony and his brother and sister-in-law, R.B. and Shannon Anthony along with many other extended family, adopted family, dear friends and “brothers”.
We do not have service information at this time but, due to COVID restrictions, it will be a small service. Later, when we’re able to safely gather again and make music we will properly honor his memory together.
In lieu of flowers, Ryan asked that donations be made to CancerBlows and The Ryan Anthony Foundation.

At our core, VBC is a place for musicians to come together. Due to safety measures being put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19, VBC will be indefinitely postponing all future performances, including Symphony in Brass and our scheduled appearance at the VSO Day of Music.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support of our sponsors and other supporters in the community. We hope that you will continue to consider the importance of musicians and artists, particularly those who rely on a gig and lesson industry that is being severely affected.
As Leonard Bernstein said, “music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable”. In trying times, music can heal and unite. Stay safe everybody. We can’t wait to play for you again soon.
