Here's Po, the Mini Golden Doodle, in his first Reactive Dog Class with us! 🐾 We're so glad you and your mommy felt comfortable. We're excited to support you on this journey—those boiled pork and lamb treats sound like a hit! 😋 Thank you for trusting to help you live your best lives together. 🐶✨

📸:

The world can sometimes feel scary and overwhelming with so many sounds, people, furry friends, and objects like leaves or plastic bags that get picked up and flown around on a windy day. 😳

Sometimes these things are a bit more than I feel comfortable with and Mommy is going to learn new ways of helping me feel more comfortable.

Today we had our first in person meeting for our reactive dog class in Etobicoke at .

Mommy and I felt so comfortable there and I even ate treats that Mommy brought (boiled pork and lamb 😋).
The Instructors were so calm, patient and kind and we are so excited to be taking this step in our journey to live our best lives together. 🐶💙

📸:

Anyone who knows us, knows that she and I are on a journey. I've been working on PAW forever. Also DOWN. Lol. So this is our new little routine. The paw part is a challenge for her...but she's getting it. So many repetitions. So many days. She's the sweetest. Thank you for the guidance. Also, this is her first day with UP UP from a down so I she needed to see the treat. : ) 🎉

Did you know that 'touch' can be a more effective cue than 'come'? 🤔 Here's why:

1️⃣ We don't overuse the cue - When we stick our hands out and say "touch", we mean business 💯 But, we often say "come" to our dogs throughout the day - come here, come on, let's go, come, and this dilutes the salience of the cue.

2️⃣ It's paired with tons of rewards - How often do we stick our hands out and say "touch" and not give our dogs a treat? 🥩 It's consistently paired with rewards so our dogs trust the behaviour will pay off.

3️⃣ It has a distinct visual component - We often don't stick our hands out like this, so it stands out and is easy to recognize, so it's easier for our dogs to respond to the cue correctly. 🔍

Watch and learn how to boost your dog's recall with the power of 'touch'! 📹

Is your dog… Anxious, fearful, or skittish in environments outside of your home?

Hypervigilant to noises from inside your home and can’t even relax while inside?

Unable to regulate both positive and negative emotions – getting overaroused or very upset easily?

Also reactive to various triggers on a daily basis?

Tackling chronic stress requires multi-faceted approaches and a holistic look at your dog’s life. That’s why all the “quick tips” you’ve tried haven’t really worked.

The Canine Stress Solution is designed to help you (and your dog) get the following benefits:

Greater peace and quiet at home, with less pacing, hypervigilance, startling, and barking. Both you and your dog will be less stressed in the one place that should be relaxing – your home!

More options for going outside to more places, where both you and your dog will enjoy the outings, instead of returning back home more stressed or upset

Ability to engage in more forms of exercise, because as your dog’s world opens up, more options to let them move freely become available

Key Details:

Learn from Anywhere: 10 Live Zoom Calls scheduled on Sundays at 4PM Eastern starting September 29th. Recordings will be available if you can’t attend live.

Incredible Savings and Support - Instead of many expensive private lessons, a new facet of the program is introduced to the group on Sunday, and reading and homework is assigned for a fraction of the cost.

Ongoing Support - In our private online community, you’ll submit questions and homework assignments for your trainer to review and for the group to learn and grow together.

Regular Price: $500 - Program Launch Promotion: $350 (30% off)

3 Secrets to a Rock-Solid Stay/Wait 🐾💡

1️⃣ Clear Cueing: Elm's handler gives a very clear verbal "wait" cue that's delivered consistently each repetition. Our dogs are easily confused if we're not even clear on our own cues - is it stay, is it wait, what intonation is used, is there extra body movements happening? To deliver clear cues, we need to know what's coming out of our mouths and what our bodies are doing.

2️⃣ Reinforcement History - Every rep where Elm gets it right, they're reinforced with praise, attention, and treats, and this makes the value of waiting higher and higher over time.

3️⃣ Layering in Distractions - By constantly changing other variables, such as waving toys around, food around, and adding other things to the picture, our dogs learn not to fall for these competing motivators. 🐾❤️

Watch Elm being the master of wait game! 📹

Small steps lead to big progress! 🐾 Huge congratulations to Finn on completing his reactivity class! 🎉 We love his honest face - it says it all! ❤️ Kudos to his humans as well for embracing the journey, learning, and growing alongside him. 💪 If you're navigating reactivity with your furry friend, know you're not alone! 🐾❤️

Our new reactive dog group classes are now open and start from August 11th! Check out link in bio and enrol today to help your dog in their reactivity journey!

The face of a boy who finished his reactivity class today! 🎉

I’m going to keep it real here, he did have a reaction today, but it was my bad, not his. He recovered quickly from it though, and he actually did really well in all the classes including the rest of today’s.

The class focused on management, games, emergency behaviours and short exposures. It was more of a class for us than it was for him.

Having a reactive dog isn’t easy, and it was definitely something we had no idea about until we learnt about it that we recognized the signs of reactivity in Finn.

Management and advocating is all on us as guardians and it isn’t fool proof. We’re only human and we do mess up and that’s okay, we’re learning just like them.

That being said, I highly recommend the reactivity class from if you have a reactive dog and want to learn how to better manage situations using R+/FF methods.

If you have any questions about our journey or the class, leave a comment or feel free to shoot me a DM!

Game-Changing Trick Alert! 🚨

This is a great trick for so many reasons! Not only does it help keep your pup's paws clean, but you can also use it for a nail scratch board for helping keep nails short, and it's also a component of teaching a front-paw target for stepping up on a platform or perch, which is used in a lot of dog sports like Agility or Rally-O as well.🏋️‍♂️

Here's how to teach it:

Step 1: Place a treat inside a towel and fold it in half.
Step 2: Encourage your dog to investigate the towel and treat, but hold the towel down so they can't use their nose to dig out the treat 🐾
Step 3: When their front paws touch the towel, click and then release the treat inside for your dog to eat💥
Step 4: On subsequent repetitions, withhold the click until you see a solid paw swipe. Once they're confident doing one paw swipe, withhold the click until they use both paws, or even multiple repetitions 🔄

Let us know in the comments below how your dog has been cleaning its paws! 💬

🐾 3 Reasons Why Hide and Seek Supercharges Recall 🐾

👉 Teaches dogs to always keep an eye on you.
Playing hide and seek with your dog teaches them the importance of staying vigilant and aware of your presence. They’ll quickly learn to keep a close watch on you to avoid losing sight of their favorite human. This is an essential habit to develop for future off-leash adventures.

👉 Leverages their FOMO, so they come quick.
By tapping into your dog’s fear of missing out (FOMO), hide and seek encourages them to come running as soon as they realize you’re not in sight and you call them. This natural instinct drives them to find you as fast as possible, getting us an enthusiastic and speedy recall.

👉 Lets you throw a reunion party and reinforce fast recall.
The joy and excitement of reuniting after a game of hide and seek create a positive association with coming when called. Every successful find turns into a mini celebration, making "come" not just a cue, but a fun and rewarding experience for your dog.

Ready to level up your dog’s recall skills? Give hide and seek a try and watch the magic happen!

We're so proud of Percy and his family for graduating from Tricks class! 🎓🐾 Remember, the real magic happens at home with lots of practice and repetition. Keep up the great work on selfie, clean paws, cue cards, middle, and footsies. You're doing amazing, Percy and keep progressing!

We are so proud of our instructor Ethan for guiding all the dogs and their parents with such love and dedication!

📸:

That’s a wrap on Tricks class! If I’m bein’ honest, they graduated me even though I haven’t learned many of the tricks. But the thing about Tricks class is - our instructor Uncle Ethan isn’t teaching ME. He’s teaching Mommy and Daddy HOW to teach me. We have to work on it at home. The key is lots and lots and lots of repetition. And it’s been a busy few weeks what with the Great Skunkening and Mommy’s busy-ness at work.

So the class is over but I’m gonna keep learning! Mommy will be off work for the summer in a couple weeks and we’re saying it here to keep us on top of it: we are gonna spend time this summer practicing these tricks! Mommy took a pic of the white board where Uncle Ethan summarized them. We’re gonna do our level best to prioritize: selfie, clean paws, cue cards, middle, and maaayyybbbeee footsies. We just started footsies yesterday - you can see it in these pics. I’m supposed to put my front paws on the human’s paws and we walk together. But Mommy says this is a hard trick for me because I’m too polite to step on people’s feet. It seems like kind of an advanced trick to me but it would be pretty cute!

We’ll keep you updated insta! We’re gonna learn the tricks! But we definitely had fun in class - thank you Uncle Ethan!
