Walking on the moon: the Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) in the Atacama Desert of Chile, has various stone and sand formations which have been carved by wind and water.

It has an impressive range of colour and texture, looking somewhat similar to the surface of the moon. In fact, Valle de la Luna is frequently used by NASA to test its planetary rover vehicles!

Did you know about the Aconcagua Valley region in Chile?

This valley sits 80 kilometres north of Santiago and is the last transversal (east-west) valley above the Central Valley region, which runs north-south.

Some of the grapes that best grow here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, & Pinot Noir.

Fun Fact : The Choapa Valley region in Chile spans across the narrowest point in Chile, and is divided into two sub-sectors: Illapel and Salamanca.

Turns out, this is the an ideal location for Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to be grown.

Down in the Malleco Valley, with its low temperatures, high rainfall and risk of spring and fall frosts, growing in this area can be challenging, but doing so comes with major rewards. That doesn't prevent the farmers in this area from producing some fantastic wines, though!
