🎨 FCA Plein Air Paint Out 🎨

Dates: Saturday, July 20th
Time: 12.30 PM - 5.30 PM
Location: Duck Pond, Granville Island, Vancouver BC
Cost: Free - By Donation

This idyllic pond, surrounded by willow trees, vibrant flowers, and diverse vegetation, offers a peaceful retreat for painters. Watch as ducks playfully glide across the water and turtles bask on sunlit rocks, creating an inspiring scene for both artists and nature lovers. A small dock extends into the water, adding to the picturesque charm of this serene spot.

The FCA Plein Air Paint Out aims to celebrate the joy of painting outside, giving our members an opportunity to network and socialize with fellow artists who enjoy creating outside just as much. Open to all painters of any media.

There will be no formal instruction, but members are encouraged to share their techniques/tips and experiences.

Each session will start with a brief slide show, followed by a discussion about the four different aspects covered above. Ann will be providing everyone with photos to use for this workshop – each photo will serve to emphasize the basics above. Ann will then be doing a demonstration of a floral painting. You will be given exercises that you can do at home to reinforce the elements covered. There will be some home assignments, which we will review at the beginning of the next class. The final class will include a review of your paintings, with lots of feedback on what is working and not working in your painting.

Our Story

The Federation of Canadian Artists is a membership-driven, not-for-profit organization, founded in 1941 by Canadian artist, including Group of Seven luminaries Lawren Harris, Arthur Lismer, and A.Y. Jackson. The first National Executive Council was led by Andre Bieler, and Lawren Harris was the BC region’s first Chairman. Other notable founding members included Emily Carr and the Honorable Mark Kearley.

The FCA is dedicated to provide an opportunity for artistic growth, professional development and accreditation to visual artists of various skill levels, with the aim to promote and improve the recognition and professional standing of practicing artists in the community and to stimulate public interest in the growth of Canadian culture. Our activities include workshops, juried and non-juried gallery exhibitions, print publications, critiques, demonstrations, special events, and much more.

With over 2,800 members and 13 Chapters in Western Canada, the FCA provides a strong networking service for emerging and established artist, as well as everyone who appreciates art.
