The official charitable partner of BC Parks. You can help keep BC beautiful with us.
This newly conserved 286-hectare property, with stunning views of volcanic Nadina Mountain, is now a vital link between the Ecological Reserve to the north and conservation lands to the south. ⛰️
During a recent site visit, we witnessed incredible wildlife moments—like a mule deer doe giving birth in the long grass, a cow moose with her days-old calf in the wetlands, and fresh (and huge!) grizzly tracks. 🦌🐾
This protected land will continue to support these species and more, keeping BC’s wilderness wild and thriving.

232 hectares of the Beatton River ecosystem are now permanently protected, expanding a crucial wildlife habitat in the Peace River region.
This area, north of Fort St. John, features mature aspen forests, riparian wetlands, and river habitats that support a diverse range of species. With less than 3% of the northeastern BC region currently protected, Beatton River is key to maintaining the health of the Peace River ecosystem. 🐟🦌🐾

809 hectares (2,000 acres) of stunning wilderness at Boya Lake are now permanently protected—one of the largest private land conservation projects in the region 🌲
This incredible property, bordering Tā Ch’ilā (Boya Lake) Provincial Park and Ne’ah’ Conservancy, is crisscrossed by wetlands that provide crucial habitat for Moose, Caribou, Black Bears, and a variety of birds like the Spruce Grouse and Three-toed Woodpecker. 🦌🐻🐦
Thanks to the collective effort of individual donors and funders, these ecosystems will remain wild and vibrant for generations to come.

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR NORTHERN BC!
We’re excited to announce the permanent protection of over 1,800 hectares (4,500 acres) in Northern BC, expanding prime habitat for iconic species such as Grizzly Bears, Moose, and Woodland Caribou—forever. 🌲🐻🦌
Northern ecosystems are crucial for global biodiversity and climate regulation, but are underrepresented in protected area systems worldwide. These acquisitions strategically expand existing conservation areas, preserving vital wildlife corridors and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We’re very grateful to everyone who supported this project, from individual donors to major funders including the Wilson 5 Foundation and Environment and Climate Change Canada. It shows what can be done when people work together to keep BC beautiful.
Protect now, enjoy forever.

PaRx (Healthy By Nature) is celebrating one million nature prescriptions!
When Misty Pratt first stood barefoot in the butterfly garden beside the hospital where she worked, she felt a bit out of place. It was her first attempt to fulfill her PaRx nature prescription, and as she watched people enjoy their lunch nearby, she wondered if she was doing it right. Yet, she returned to the garden day after day, and slowly, something began to shift within her.

Fun goat 🐐 fact! BC is the recognized home for approximately half of the world’s Mountain Goat population! Goats are present in most mountain ranges except for those on Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and most other coastal islands.
This is what we mean when we say 'the pinnacle of perfection!' Enjoy this view of Black Tusk as you begin your week!
At nearly 700,000 hectares, Spatsizi Plateau Wilderness Park in northern British Columbia is one of Canada’s largest parks. It’s also one of its wildest. Known as the Serengeti of the North for its incredible wildlife, it is one of the most remote and undeveloped regions of BC. That makes it a sanctuary for biodiversity. Mountain goats, grizzly bears, caribou, moose, wolves, and many other animals roam free.
Today, its natural abundance has revealed another extraordinary treasure—one of the world’s larger discoveries of dinosaur fossils. Visit bcparksfoundation.ca/spatsizi to find out more!
The BC Parks iNaturalist project has hit one million observations within six years. More than 13,000 people have contributed to the project to get us to one million observations of more than 12,500 species in the 1000+ parks and protected areas in B.C. The project has found many endangered and threatened species, and some species are new observations for B.C. or Canada, or even totally new to science! iNaturalist helps you instantly identify plants and animals wherever you go. By recording and sharing your observations, you’ll create data that scientists can use to better understand and protect nature.
This project is led by Dr. Brian Starzomski at the University of Victoria and Dr. John Reynolds at Simon Fraser University along with their teams of summer students, in partnership with BC Parks. Additional funding support has come from the Sitka Foundation and the Pacific Wildlife Foundation. The BC Parks Foundation has helped with promotion for this program.

Last week, we announced the protection of 169 acres of Vancouver Island shoreline. Wildlife living in this area includes Ancient Murrelet, Black Swift, Great Blue Heron, Little Brown Myotis bats, and River Otters like this adorable mom and her pups!
At BC Parks Foundation, we’re grateful to work alongside Indigenous communities to protect and celebrate the natural beauty and cultural richness of British Columbia. The Story Trails initiative provides space for Indigenous Peoples to share their history, culture, and ecological knowledge.
Tsútswecw Park Story Trail is located on the traditional territory of the Secwépemc people, and it brings the teachings of local students to the forefront. Similarly, the Alice Lake Park Story Trail, on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People, shares knowledge passed down through generations.
These trails are pathways through nature that honour the deep connections between Indigenous Peoples and the land. Through collaboration with Indigenous Nations, schools, and local partners, Story Trails allow communities to tell their stories in their own words, ensuring their voices are heard and their traditions are celebrated.
Visit one of the Story Trails to reflect on the history of the land and learn from the stories, wisdom, and teachings that continue to thrive in these landscapes. Learn more at discoverparks.ca/discover-trails
34 acres of BC’s least protected and rarest biogeoclimatic zone, mature Coastal Douglas fir forest, is now protected forever 💚
This acquisition weaves a vital link in the ecological fabric of the region, connecting Gowlland Tod Park with Hazlitt Creek Municipal Nature Park. It's a lifeline for the region's diverse flora and fauna. With over 90% of Hazlitt Creek—a major tributary of Millstream Creek—now preserved within parkland, we’ve secured an uninterrupted corridor for wildlife and the natural flow of ecosystems.
Earlier this week, we shared that over 200 acres of fragile and biodiverse lands on Southern Vancouver Island are protected forever. Now we’re taking you on a deep dive into what makes these places so special.

169 acres of Vancouver Island shoreline and mature and old growth forest are now protected forever! 🩵🌲
With a mix of Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Western Red Cedar, the land slopes toward Sooke Inlet and is crisscrossed by four streams. It’s home to the Ancient Murrelet, Black Swift, and Great Blue Heron – all blue-listed species. It is also a critical habitat for the federally endangered Little Brown Myotis bats. This newly protected area is an important wildlife corridor for animals and species in East Sooke Regional Park.
Yesterday, we shared that over 200 acres of fragile and biodiverse lands on Southern Vancouver Island are protected forever. Now we’re taking you on a deep dive into what makes these places so special.

We’re currently working on the management plans for this property, and as such, it is not open to the public.
JUST ANNOUNCED: Over 200 acres of rare waterfront and mature and old growth forest on Southern Vancouver Island are now protected—forever. 🌊🌲💖
Both properties are home to a range of endangered species in a region where wildlife movement is restricted by habitat loss and fragmentation. Expanding protected places helps connect ecosystems, which is essential for species' survival.
Both former owners of these beautiful places have been involved in their stewardship for decades. Their partial donations, along with support from the Wilson 5 Foundation, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and an amazing group of donors and volunteers, have ensured this waterfront and forest, and all the creatures within them, will thrive forever.
This announcement builds on BC Parks Foundation’s successful conservation partnerships and crowdfunding campaigns, which have helped protect close to 60 properties in the last 5 years.
Protect now, enjoy forever.
