Four Hospitality Professionals + Artists Coming Together for a Special Art Show, June 1st With 'Three Servers and a Pastry Chef' it's especially inspiring to see a group of people who log so many hours on restaurant floors finding the drive to unite and do something cool and creative, and beyond the immediate demands of their day jobs.

Back in Dublin for another f@ funeral….enjoyed a couple of pints at the excellent John Kavanagh’s Pub aka “the gravediggers” a private send off to my uncle Fergus Heather RIP. I hope that the pints are sweet and plentiful up there Fergus.

It’s “Heather Weather” hang up your coat and get comfortable….

I know that I am supposed to be equally proud of each of my 5 kids, and trust me when I say that I am, however, my daughter Orla is pulling my heart strings just a little harder than the others, for now anyway.

Orla is playing in the Irish Women’s National League, for Treaty United’s U17 soccer team. Between practices, gym training, and games on Saturday, she is having an amazing experience. Their first game was in Donegal, then she played against a Dublin team, last week it was against Cork and next week she travels to Athlone, then Wexford, and Sligo.

I love that she is getting to see the country that I grew up in, walking the streets of Limerick and Dublin as I did, meeting her family and my school pals, training on the University of Limerick grounds, where her grandmother, grandfather and step-grandfather worked for many years.

My father’s best pal was a lovely man called Brian Doyle, and his dad used to manage Shelbourne FC back in the 60’s/70’s. Brian and my dad would hang out there, go to matches, etc. I recently lost my dad and we are going back to Dublin on Sept 3rd to celebrate his life with as many family members as we can gather. As fate would have it, Orla's last game before heading home is on Sept 3rd in Dublin, against Shelbourne FC…..kismet I believe that its called. The celebration will start with a bunch of us cheering on Orla pitch side before heading to the pub.

Orla, your mom and I are very proud of you for being brave and fierce, and for embracing this opportunity…though I do wish that you’d tidy your room!!

PS giant shout out to Brian and Grá for taking care of our Orla, it was a big ask and you didn’t even flinch!!
