CAN YOU SPOT THE LIAR? Five comedians share stories that can’t possibly be true. The catch is one story is a lie, the other four are completely factual.
The audience has a chance to question each story as we attempt to find out which is the liar is. Story Story Lie is unpredictable, interactive and takes comedy to a whole new level. Have a story? email [email protected]
Tonight Julie Kim is sharing a story! Julie Kim is stand-up comedian and writer who headlines comedy clubs across Canada and the United States. She has been featured on national television and radio multiple times (the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Just for Laughs Northwest, the Halifax Comedy Festival, and much more). Julie's been a writer and on-camera talent for CBC's The Debaters, Laugh out Loud, CBC's Kim's Convenience (a tiny bit as an occasional guest in the writer's room), and more. Her comedy credits are among the best in the country. She is a writer and creative consulting for the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and will be returning for her third TV gala in May 2022. Julie is currently touring across North America with Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Crazy Rich Asians). In 2018 she released her debut comedy album with 800 Pound Gorilla Records, and was discovered by fans worldwide as her comedy videos amassed over 20 million views online. Julie will be a writer for Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Kim’s Convenience) as he hosts The Juno Awards in 2022. Julie's mission is to spread happiness, lighten hearts, and unite through laughter.
Lukas (Luke) Purm has signed up to share a very suspicious story Thursday Night!
A verbal surgeon by nature, Lukas Purm is the Host & Producer of Stand Up Comedy at The Improv Centre in Vancouver, and has energized audiences at Fringe Festivals in Vancouver 2018 and Paris 2020. His uplifting satire blends philosophy with self awareness in a world spun out of proportion.
But is Lukas the liar? Only way to find out is to be there! Ticket link in bio or $20 at the door.

Posted • ALERT: A few weeks ago the man pictured here told me that he’s hosting The Juno Awards in Toronto and - short story shorter - I was then hired to write for him.
We dreamed up and wrote amazing things. Simu then made them leap, sing, and dance off the page exceeding all expectations in what many have called the BEST JUNO AWARDS EVER.
Shoutout to writing team member - so glad he came onboard! Small ‘c’ consulting credit to and . 😉
And if anyone still needs further reasoning as to why we need women and diversity in writing rooms, see the biggest fu***ng line of the night at the end of the monologue.

The Winner of Story Story Lie Xr**ed is first time storyteller big time burlesque babe Androsia Wilde
Her devotion to hiding out in a closet in college with her someone special was a hot hot mess and we loved it!
Congrats Androsia! Keep those epic stories coming
Vancouver Casting Call for Story Story Lie at The Rio Theatre, the theme is yet to be determined. Instead of deciding the theme and finding the right performers this time I’m finding the right performers then picking a theme that binds all the stories together (this always happens somehow). We’ll have the usual pro comedian line up but I’m saving one special spot for someone new.
Over the years we’ve had numerous epic stories shared by new performers, including Rae Bower with her epic tale of doing on a date to the Aquarium and the fellow brought his daughter and then left them both there. A totally true story told so remarkably.
For the June 23rd show I really hope to find that one special person with an unbelievable story (or the tenacity to tell a lie, which can be much more difficult).
To send a pitch email [email protected] and tell me a bit about it. Deadline is 5pm Monday, May 17th.
Photos from our Story Story Lie "Hot and Heavy" at The Rio Theatre! Brilliant stories by Steev Letts, K.C. Novak, Alannah Brittany, Alistair Ogden, and The Winner Lindsay Braynen. Thanks to Skye Portman for the photos.

Tuesday Night we have Burlesque Sensation sharing a brand new story
Androsia Wilde [she/her] known as "The Bahama Mama of Burlesque", is the perfect tropical cocktail - a generous pour of burlesque's glitz and tease, splashed with the intoxicating and rhythmic flavours of The Bahamas. This Daughter of Starlight and Seafoam's performing journey spans over 3,000 miles- from the Island Paradise of her birth, to the Pacific Northwest she now calls 'home', and has taken her through the realms of alternative modeling, martial arts, immersive theatre, acting for television, and dance.
Her burlesque career started in 2014 with her much-lauded debut as the 'yummy' scoundrel Lando Calrissian in nerdlesque troupe Geekenders' initial production of "The Empire Strips Back", and has since expanded to setting stages ablaze across British Columbia with her enchanting stage presence and delight for movement-based storytelling. Alongside her beloved Geekenders family, she is also part of the interdisciplinary troupe Omnika In Motion, and one of the driving forces behind the newest BIPOC collective, Diasporic Dynasty.

Emily Woods is sharing a new story with us Saturday at The Mint in Victoria. Prepare to be blown away! Always love having Emily on our stage!
Spending the last five years between Kelowna, Victoria, and the UK, Emily has established herself as a stellar new comedian quickly rising up in these scenes. Her hour long solo show was set to debut in a prime slot at the 2020 Edinburgh fringe festival, but sadly the pandemic ruined those plans. New to Victoria Emily quickly dove right back into comedy; performing all over the city and Vancouver, as well as running her own comedy course for aspiring femme and non-binary comedians. Now an event producer for the Victoria Event Centre Emily runs her own regularly sold out show at the VEC showcasing drag, burlesque, music, and comedy acts called Frantic Friday. Emily regularly hosts and performs at other shows around Victoria and Vancouver. 2018 Leicester Square new act of the year semi-finalist 2019 Max Turner Award Finalist 2019 Up The Creek One to Watch finalist 2019 99Club bursary for top female and non-binary comedians of London “A striking take and a gift for finding the funny side of everything, including taking anti-depressants.” -Bruce Desseau “She’s forever beaming with a jolly smile, even while excoriating herself over her looks or lack of self-respect, or being brashly honest about life... there’s something refreshingly engaging about her quirky presence.” -Steve Bennett
