There's nothing quite like a cup of tea to start or end the day.
Whether you prefer a soothing chamomile blend, a bold and spicy chai, or something in between, tea has a way of bringing comfort and relaxation to even the busiest of days.

The aroma of the herbs, spices and other ingredients are a gift in and of itself, it is all part of the tea drinking experience. Tea drinkers have found that the aroma of a well brewed tea can be calming. As it turns out, they’re not wrong. One 2005 Study found that the diffusion of jasmine tea’s aroma produced calming, yet vigorous mood states in 24 healthy human subjects. Researchers concluded that the aroma of jasmine “has sedative effects on both autonomic nerve activity and mood states.”

A Japanese Study Published In 2018 found similar effects when the scent of black tea was inhaled. The subjects of the study were given stress-inducing arithmetic problems. The researchers found that “inhaling black tea aroma may diminish stress levels caused by arithmetic mental stress tasks.” The scent of one black tea in particular (Darjeeling) even “tended to improve mood before mental stress load.”

The subtle aromas of rose petals, lemon grass, lavender and chamomile that can be found in some of my blends are an added bonus to the nutrients you will benefit from from drinking the tea.

Herbology 101
Let's talk Marshmallow and not the soft squishy kind.

Did you know that these plants are found in moist soils and can grow 2-5 ft. tall. it is also an ingredient in one of the Brewja Bends: Gut Love.

Marshmallow is a plant that grows as a perennial with pinkish white flowers. The leaves and the root have traditionally been used in teas to aid with reducing the effects of a sore throat. Leaf and root have been widely used in Europe to soothe mucus membrane irritation, where there has been a dry cough.

It has been noted that it has been used since the Roman times for cases of gastritis, gastric and peptic ulcers and to help relieve mild inflammation of the gastric mucosa.

Externally made into a poultice it has been applied to sprains, bruises, aching muscles and irritated skin with a soothing effect.

It is important to consult with your health practitioner before the use of herbals. These statements are made without the intention to help cure or prevent illnesses.

Gardening and being in nature are two of my favourite things. Something that strikes me each year when I walking in the spring is how different species and plants pop up at different speeds. Some trees start budding sooner than others, some plants are already in full bloom while others take their time to emerge from the ground. Everything grows at its own pace, on its own time.

Too often I find that we rush through life, keeping up, meeting deadlines, chasing our goals, always watching the clock. What if we slowed down just a little bit and did things at a pace that was right for us. I hear too often, "I don't have time" or "I wish that I could do more of this or that". Why do we rush through life and not give ourselves permission to press the pause button so we can enjoy the the things we "don't have time for"

This week can we take some advice from the beauty of nature that surrounds us and do things at our own pace. Maybe it means saying no to something so you have more time to enjoy a cup of tea 😉, or just some time to yourself.

Let's talk mushrooms on this fine Monday morning!

I have been getting a lot of people asking me for a herbal blend that will include various types of mushrooms like, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, lions mane to name a few.

The healing benefits that continued to be studied on various types of medicinal mushrooms is outstanding for energy, immunity, cognitive function along with anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. Let’s Get Ready to Glow!

Did you know that you there is so much more that you can do with Brewja Blends Teas?

Here are 3 ways I use the tea blends taking advantage of all that the herbals have to offer.

1. Facial Spritz: Steep a cup of tea for an hour or so allowing it to cool to room temperature. Strain the loose leaf herbals and transfer the liquid to a spray bottle. Now you have a facial spritzer to cool you down and bring hydration.

2. Bath Time: Use herbal blend by adding it to bath salts. Draw yourself a warm bath and add the mixture to your bath. Don’t want the loose herbals in the bath. Add the mixture to a tea bag and then add to bath.

3. Iced Tea: Not into hot tea. Not a problem let the tea cool once it is steeped. Then add some ice cubes and VOILA! You can also add fruit, and sweetener if you choose.
