I would like to pay tribute to a very special lady who passed away peacefully today, Judy Hayman. Judy was not only a very true friend, but also my right-hand man, through thick and thin, when we ran very busy clinics in London and Guernsey. She was the most dedicated person I have met and poured so much into the lives of ME and other patients with such complex illnesses. Judy understood the way I think about these conditions, that an integrative holistic treatment program is the only way patients can get better step by step. She dedicated her life advocating for patients and we had many happy times together in Guernsey running the clinics. She will be missed by all. Judy showed me the Monnaie Chapel in Guernsey which impressed me so very much. This chapel epitomizes the peace that I often encountered visiting Judy and the patients on the island. I miss it very much. We shall all miss you dearly Judy! Rest in peace my dear.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PATIENTS

2019 has been particularly challenging year for our clinic, and it has also been a year of change and also heartache, with Dr Hyams losing his wife. We are pleased with our new office space, providing a calm, comfortable atmosphere to see our patients.

Dr. Hyams has had the pleasure of assisting patients with Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS for many years. Because of Dr Hyams’ huge family loss, he has decided to lighten his case load for the time being, until further notice. He will, for now, not be accepting new referred patients to the pain and fatigue clinic, although this is anticipated to be a temporary arrangement. If your referral was received prior to August 1st, 2019 we will endeavour to process these referrals, accordingly.

This will allow us to concentrate on our current case load and also assist Dr Hyams through this difficult time. As a further service to the community, we will be accepting patients for interventional procedures, including trigger point injections, prolotherapy, therapeutic Botox, intrabursal and intra-articular injections. We will also continue to offer patients the option to reduce their fibromyalgia and migraine pain, using transcranial direct current stimulation therapy.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and welcome you to contact the office for further information at 604 554 0460.

A very big thank you to everyone for the amazing kind words.
Ashley passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at the McKenney Creek Hospice.
I am forever grateful for her love and support as my wife, in assisting me in the work that I do.
I would like to continue the work in memory of her kindness and compassion.

Many of you know the two year battle that my lovely Ashley has had fighting metastatic colon cancer. Ashley is really struggling with her health right now and is currently in a palliative care unit fighting for her life. Ashley and I felt privileged to be able to serve so many of you with devastating illnesses. Our family thanks all of you for your ongoing prayers and support. We have had many requests from patients who wish to visit her. We are finding that she is very tired but we are managing to read out messages from patients which is lifting her spirits. We would be happy to relay a message from you if you wish to do so.
My prayer is that Ashley’s kindheartedness will continue to be instrumental in your ongoing healing

Hi folks. I found this presentation last week at Stanford quite intriguing. I have been using pregnenolone as a precursor steroid for patients with low DHEA levels for over 15 years based on my Anti-ageing medical training. In my opinion it is one of the most beneficial natural hormone supplants for eligible ME patients. It is also significantly neuroprotective. It is pleasing to see that studies show pregnenolone deficiency in ME patients and most interesting to see that it is produced in the mitochondria, most of which are under-functioning in ME/ CFS patients. In Canada pregnenolone has to be compounded by a compounding pharmacy

Photos from Hyams clinic's post 10/01/2018

Further evidence of biological differences between ME/CFS patients versus healthy controls - immune cytokines and metabolite differences. Reduced beneficial bacteria in the gut can prevent IPA production from tryptophan, causing reduced neuroprotection and increased microglial activation with development of brain inflammation.

UPDATE:
As you know, at the end of August our clinic will be moving to the Fraser Valley.

As of right now, our Port Coquitlam office is undergoing some minor upgrades and is not going to be ready for September 1st, 2018. In the interim, we will be working temporarily at Pitt Meadows Medical Clinic (about 5 - 10 minutes away) located at 105 - 19070 Lougheed Hwy, Pitt Meadows.

To maintain continuity of care, we will be working in West Vancouver one day per week for the near future. The continuation of this will be based on demand, and will remain at the current location; 1405 Bellevue Ave, West Vancouver.

As a reminder, our final address will be 105 - 1250 Dominion Ave, Port Coquitlam and the move-in date for this location is to be announced.

If you have an appointment scheduled in September, and you are unsure of the location, please refer to the schedule below.

Monday - Pitt Meadows
Tuesday - Pitt Meadows
Wednesday - West Vancouver (Excluding Sept 5th)
Thursday - CLOSED
Friday - Pitt Meadows.
Saturday - Closed
Sunday - Closed

We are slowly making calls to change and notify patients of appointment locations, but would appreciate if inquiring patients could email [email protected] to get more information.

As a reminder, our main phone number (604-281-2845) will have the calls forwarded for the next 8-12 months. This phone number can be used as our primary contact until otherwise notified.

We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and ongoing support during this transition. Please help us spread the word by sharing this message with anyone you think might be effected by the move.

Many Thanks,

Hyams Clinic Admin

An Important Message to Our Patients;

It has been an amazing 5 years in our West Vancouver clinic, and we have been very happy to grow with the community and create professional relationships with all of our patients.

As our clinic grows, we are always looking for ways to evolve and grow with it. That is why we have made the very difficult decision to relocate our practice. Our goal has always been to provide an excellent level of care to as many patients as possible, to help the under-treated population. We feel that in our new location we will be able to centralize our services, and make them more available and convenient for patients across the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver.

Our new clinic location will be developed in Port Coquitlam, at Centenni Plaza - Official address being; 105 - 1250 Dominion Ave. Port Coquitlam.

We feel that increasing the size of our clinic is important, and creating a team of Physicians is the best way to service our patient population. Over the next few months, that is exactly what we are going to be working on, and our estimated move date is September 1st, 2018.

We understand that through this transition there are going to be a lot of questions about what this means for everyone's care. We invite you send any and all inquires to [email protected]. We will make every effort to answer every question you have, and will provide more details to you as they become available to us.

What we want to be clear is that we will not be discontinuing care with any of our patients, and invite you to follow us if you are willing and able. For those who would prefer to find alternative care, we will be actively searching for those vacancies and make them available to you as soon as possible.

The clinic space in West Vancouver is intended to be taken over by new Physicians, but at the moment there are no solid plans in place.

If patients wish to have an open discussion regarding the move, we are willing to start groups in the evenings to better answer all the questions from Dr. Hyams himself.

We thank you all for your loyalty, kindness, and understanding with this transition.

The Hyams Clinic Team.

04/13/2018

We are happy to announce that we will be launching some MSP covered groups with one of our Clinical Counselors. We will have scheduled times both in West Vancouver and Maple Ridge. All interested patients please email [email protected] for more information!

Cancer immunotherapy using tumor cryoablation | Immunotherapy 01/25/2018

Another exciting article describing cryotherapy ablation and injection of immunotherapy drugs in the tumour sites, bring hope to patients with advanced cancers, eradicating localized metastases and locally educating the immune system to target the cancer cells, if they start replicating again. I am so excited about these developments.
Also to test for circulating tumour cells, testing a blood sample to see whether there are further optimal choices of immune therapy treatments to be used locally in the cryo-ablated lesions, leading also to a systemic effect in educating the immune system to target these cells, wherever they my develop down the line.
A typical example of the wonders of modern day medicine!
