Hi hi!
We hope you're all enjoying the first week in November. As most of you are aware, we've been working on something pretty special, and now it's finally out and available to listen! For those who don’t know, Josef and I had the privilege of working on a documentary CFVU 101.9 FM. CFVU is a volunteer based non-profit arts and media on the beautiful, traditional, and unceded territories of the Lkwugen and WSANEC Peoples. CFUV elevates and amplifies marginalized and underrepresented voices, offers free audio and media training opportunities, and produces award-winning and cutting edge radio since 1984. To listen live, find out more, or learn about volunteer opportunities, visit CFUV.ca.
All over the world, the Sasquatch has many forms and homes. However, most sightings take place in the Pacific Northwest. We go into why that is, what they look like, and what a typical diet of a Sasquatch can look like. In part one of The Tales of Sasquatch, follow along as The Historical Natives hear stories and encounters from Noel Potlass (the Head Hereditary Cheif from the Nuxalk Nation), Chucky John, and Erick Hunt.
If you don’t know what to look for when looking for a Sasquatch, how are you to find one? In part two, we talk about what signs to look for when you’re out in the woods, as well as talking about the spiritual side of our mysterious ape. We also get to hear more stories and encounters from Noel Potlass, Chucky John, Erick Hunt, as well as an additional encounter from Elaine Kwandibens.
We want to give a big thank you to CFUV, and to those who took the time to sit with us, to tell us your stories. We loved hearing them, and are eternally grateful to you. Thank you again!

Our regular episodes are unfortunately going to be put on hold again. Josef and I want to give THN our whole heart, but alas life has other plans for us right now… However we are working on some exciting things (such as a book deal), so be sure to follow us for more updates.
Hey hey!
We mentioned before that we are re-releasing our previous episodes, starting with the Wechuge.
Believer: A Paranormal Mystery had reached out to us for Indigenous Day and asked if we’d like to share one of our episodes with them and their listeners. It took us a hot minute to decide which being to share, but we ultimately landed on the Sasquatch. We’ve always felt like we didn’t do them justice and this was a perfect opportunity to go back and revamp.
Available to listen now, is a sneak peak of our Sasquatch episode. You can listen to it on their website Believer: a Paranormal Mystery, or on any listening sites. They will be officially returning with their regular episodes on October 31st. You can also find them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!
Our Wechuge episode is still scheduled to come out October 31, and our full length episode of the Sasquatch will be available on November 30! Be sure to folliow us for more updates and fun things, stay spooky!
Okie Podcast episode 47 is live! Take a listen to his episode on any of your podcast listening sites! Over the past few years Okie Podcast, hosted by Russthemuss49, has been enjoying the different conversations and experiences with his podcast, in this episode we share how we both got started, Reservation Dogs, a few different beings, scary dreams and more! If you haven’t already go check out his Instagram, and YouTube, also his podcast is available on all your listings sites.
We want to give a big thanks to Russel for the fun chat, we had a blast and can’t wait to do it again!
Hey hey!
We are back, and are switching things up. Instead of continuing with The Deer Woman, we will be going back to the beginning. We feel that our previous episodes need to be shown some love before we can continue.
Which means this month we are re-releasing The Wechuge, tune in on October 31 at 8 pm pst. For a more in-depth version, with more information on the Danezaa people, the being, and finish with brand new story.
Also be sure to check out Okie Podcast, tomorrow at 3 pm pst! Josef and I had a fun time getting to meet and chat with Russell Sun Eagle (Russthemuss49), we talked all about scary dreams, a few beings, Reservation Dogs, and more.
We have a few other things hidden up our sleeves, so be sure to follow us for more updates, videos, photos and more!
Miigwetch and stay spooky,
Mack and Josef
So it's been a minute, and we wanted to pop in and say hey!
Our Sasquatch documentary that we did for CFUV 101.9 FM (Victoria's Campus & Community Radio Station) was a great experience but it took a lot out of us. However we have been working on a new format for our episodes, and are also working on a longer version of the documentary that will be released on our Pateron. It will have more from our interviews, and will also feature an original short story written by our Josef Stafford. As for our regular episodes, we are planning on releasing something special soon...
Miigwech and thank you for your continuing love and support!
- Mackenzie & Josef, The Historical Natives

We are doing something new, not only are we going to be talking about the history, but we would like to bring awareness to current events.
In our episode, we talk about the Mi'kmaq peoples. As some of you might be aware, last September there was a huge "disagreement" to put it lightly, between the commercial fishermen and the indigenous peoples.
If you would like to donate to support the Sipekne’katik in exercising their inherent rights, information on how to do so can be found at http://sipeknekatik.ca/moderate-living-fishery-fleet/

Hey ya'll,
We are deeply sorry for the delay in releasing yesterday's episode, we had a couple unexpected mental health days, but we are back at it and we will hopefully have an episode out around 15th.
Josef and I are depressed ADHD introverts, so doing anything from a table read to posting is quite taxing on our mental health. We are working on finding ways to work around that, if you have any suggestions please let us know!
Thank you so much for your patience and your support!

Alright...tonight is the night! We’re currently recording the story, and hopefully we can upload the episode before 11:59. The story is pretty crisp. Navigating the theme of su***de was difficult, but we believe we may have made it work.
Hello, we've been experiencing technical/financial difficulties as of late. We're in the works of sorting everything out. The Tall Man episode release date has been changed from the 25th to this Friday (29th). Thank you to everyone who has listened to our previous episodes in the meantime.
Hello everyone, it has been another non-stop week for us at THN. Expect a new episode on Monday the 25th featuring Walking Sam, The Tall Man. We're also in the process of switching to Canadian manufacturers for our merchandise! We'll keep you updated on that situation. And please support us on Patreon, we're working on more tiers in the future!

Thank you for the interview Camosun College, it was wonderful getting to chat with you!
Camosun business student Josef Stafford and his sister Mackenzie Taylor have started a new podcast that’s making audio waves. The brother-and-sister team recently launched The Historical Natives, a horror-themed podcast with chilling stories about creatures from Indigenous oral histories. So far, they’ve explored the Wendigo, Sharp Elbows, the legendary Sasquatch, and more.
While Mackenzie handles most of the content research for each episode, Josef says he’s had the opportunity to apply what he’s learned in his business courses. “The marketing, communications, management and IT skills I’ve learned in my classes have helped tremendously.”
Josef and Mackenzie chose the podcast format to provide an accessible way for younger generations to learn their cultural history. Their hope is that listeners will gain new insights into past and present Indigenous peoples.
“I’m constantly learning from the material we talk about on the podcast,” says Josef. “People have already reached out with sources to find more information for our podcast, and we’re interested in interviewing them to enhance our understanding.”
