I love it when a flower stand out and says "Look at me!" The perfect lighting and this pretty little daisy made me smile. :)
The ferns drew me in as I hiked Pikes Peak in East Sooke Regional Park. Lovin' some little alone time.
Spring comes to Victoria, BC. Hummingbirds and flowers. What else do you need?
One of the things I love about Victoria, BC is that spring starts in February. The trees start to bud, tiny shoots start making their way through the soil. Spring is around the corner. There is hope as new growth begins once again. Pause and breath. If you are covered in snow at the moment, breathe. You're spring is coming too.
Within one week 40cm of snow have melted and vibrant green has taken its place. The energy of this green is palpable. I hope you enjoy the beauty that I am blessed to be able to share with you.
Deep within the forest green
Hidden in plain sight
They play a game of hide and seek
The moss hides their delight
Will you find these little ones as you wander through?
You may not see them for they are small
But they most definitely do see you.
A reset is sometimes needed to rejuvenate your body mind and soul. The forest called me today and I answered. I soaked Mother Nature in and felt her breath life into me. Everyone needs time to remember themselves, to remember there is beauty within and without.
As delicate as flower, as tender as rose petals, choosing to be tender and kind in a harsh environment is not weakness, it's courage.

The roses are in full bloom here in Victoria. I love the scent, the delicate velvet of the petals. Each rose unique and perfect in its own way. For me, it is peace and joy.
Tea roses fill my heart with happiness. In my adult life, every place I have moved to I have planted roses. It's my thing. This spring, I planted this beauty. She shimmers in the rain and lifts her beauty to the sun. Gorgeous one.
If you live in the greater Victoria area on Vancouver Island or happen to be visiting, come see me. I have a booth at the Sidney Sunday Market. I'll be there June 26, July 10th, 17th and 24th.
I went on a little solo journey the other day to a place called Jordan River. The winds played with the waves while the sun played hide and seek behind the clouds. A beautiful day, all in all. Gorgeous scenic views, magical forest paths and sweet surprises made every minute worthwhile.
The peacocks are strutting their stuff. I found one who seemed to love the camera. He wasn't at all shy about showing off his vibrant colors.
Pausing in a time when the world feels full of discord is essential. This is when we need to consciously pause, come back to who we are and settle in to calm and peace instead of reaction. This is part of why I photograph Nature. To me it is where there is calm. This is where there is peace. May you find that today.
Misty Morning Peace
There is a hush in the forest after a snowfall. Breathe in the crispness of the air. There is stillness. Mother Nature is waiting for you to notice. Will you take a moment?
The sun came out today! This was worth celebrating so I grabbed my camera and headed to the forest. The mushrooms and moss are thriving after all the rain we've had.
The ocean has many moods. I caught it on a day of serenity where even the waves that formed seem to do so with a peace and tranquility. There was something about its' gentle undulation, the lines that formed and the fluidity of it all that brought a sense of connection and just being. Take a moment. Breathe in the calm. Imagine the salty tang in the air. Let yourself just be. Just for a moment. Thanks for pausing.
I've been waiting for fall. After a very dry summer, the rain has begun to fall and that means mushrooms are finally poking themselves through the moss. For me that means mushroom photography. lol! Pause a while and take in the earthy smell, the fragility of these little fungi and the magic that happens with a little bit of rain.
Autumn has woven it's spell with colors or reds, golds, purples and browns. The wonder of it all.
Pause for the paws in your life. Kacae and Brogan are mine. The rest belong to beautiful humans.
A beautiful day to sail the ocean blue.
Sunflowers to brighten your day.
This Dahlia caught my eye the other day as I walk along the Gorge Waterway here in Victoria. I love the flow of its petals and the painted look it gives. I was curious about this beauty so I did a little research on it. They symbolize elegance, inner strength, creativity, change, and dignity. They also are known to represent those who stand strong in their beliefs and values. This flower radiates elegance and strength to me. Stand strong my friends. There is so much beauty in this world.
I am always on the hunt, with my camera, for things that catch my eye, stop me in my tracks, or take my breath away. Some days it's a flower, a leaf, a droplet of water. Some days its how the light reflects off a book in a way that I had never noticed before. We tend to look past the magic that is so interwoven in our day to day life that all we see is the mundane. I would love to turn it around and always see the magic that is our life. A life where nothing is mundane. A life of pure magic. Thanks for pausing.
A droplet of water. So much is taken for granted in this one little drop. There is a life giving force in this one little drop. Tiny insects and birds quench their thirst from it. The ground beneath our feet soaks it in. Each individual drops adds something to the whole. So much depends on each drop. Yet we don't see the individual drops. We see the whole. We are like this little droplet. Each of us is important and unique and each of us adds to the whole of humankind. May each of us contribute in positive ways. Thanks for pausing. 🧡
Have you taken the time lately to take a look at the delicate strength of a flower? I thought I had until I took a look through my macro lens. There is incredible detail in the coloring of a petal and the elegant magnificence of all the parts that make the whole. Amazing. Thanks for pausing
