Thankyou for all the birthday wishes! I was able to dodge the rain and wind today and plant vegetables with students out in our school garden at Hans Helgesen and then enjoy a delicious stir fry that Mariah whipped up ❤

As an artist, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing your creation hung up for display.
At Hans Helgesen Elementary, our two well used outdoor pianos were dismantled by students and stored for a future project. It was amazing to explore the inside mechanics of a piano!
With the return of students after Covid we decided to embark on a new art piece. Groups of students were responsible for sorting, layout and designing a mock piano using the recycled pieces which supported the curriculum STEM concepts.
Each division pulled a name of a student to make a hand cast using Alginate and plaster.
The hands were painted and placed in position on the keys. An appropriate song sheet was added, 'You Got a Friend in Me'.
Looking forward to seeing the students faces Monday morning when they see this on the wall.
