Meet Elise, Sr. Sales Associate at Abstract.

Elise started with Abstract in July 2023 after an extensive career on the mainland. She first got into project sales for real estate 23 years ago and has been part of the success of 30+ developments across BC. Before making the move to real estate, Elise went to school for TV broadcasting and had a short stint at Chek Television as a freelance reporter, so if her face is familiar, that could be why!

Elise has a love for the great outdoors, spending all her spare time fishing, camping, and adventuring with her two yellow labradors: Otis-Redding and BBKing.

As a Sr. Sales Associate, Elise is responsible for building relationships with clients and realtors, driving sales, and being an ambassador for the Abstract brand. Since she joined the team, Elise has brought optimism and enthusiasm to everything she does. Her energy is infectious, her ideas are big, and the goals she sets for herself are bigger (and we love her for it).

When asked about her favourite part of working for Abstract, Elise said, "I couldn’t be prouder to have landed with such a sought-after developer and to be a part of the Abstract Team."

Over the past few weeks our construction team has been installing roofing on the last building and completing siding work on the first two buildings, and we're thrilled with how it looks. Next up on their list: landscape work while the sun is shining!

Less than a 5 minute drive from Central Block, Fry's Red Wheat Bread is one of our favourite places to frequent in the area. Located on Craigflower Road, this small family run wood-fired sourdough bakery is a great choice any day of the week for a treat, but we think the real magic happens on Sundays when the bakery turns into a pizza shop. Putting out new menus every week to highlight seasonal farm fresh ingredients, they are definitely a must try!

Meet Trevor, one of the talented Development Managers at Abstract.

Trevor started at Abstract two and a half years ago as a Development Coordinator, and was promoted to Development Manager during the second half of last year. The growth and attention to detail Trevor showed during this transition made him the 2023 recipient of Abstract's Culture Award for Transformation.

In his day to day, Trevor is responsible for overseeing projects from acquisition to completion, working with each department to ensure project viability, quality, and excellence. He is currently working on Oak & Stone and Greyson, and oversaw the completion of Sparrow at the corner of Cook and Hillside, which welcomed homeowners last year.

Outside of his Development Manager role, Trevor is the newest member of the Culture Committee and is known for keeping the atmosphere in the office light and fun and championing our sports teams.

When asked about his favourite part of working for Abstract, Trevor said, "I love that I constantly get to connect with such a diverse range of people. Within our walls, you interact with and learn from industry leaders in Development, Construction, Finance, Marketing & Sales and more. I am also fortunate in my role to interact with members of the community, engineers, consultants, and homeowners. There is never a boring moment!"

Did you know the Victoria Royals Hockey Club are celebrating the Construction industry this Saturday, March 09 with their Vancouver Island Construction Association Trades Night? To spread the word, we had a special guest visit our Central Block construction site last week.

A special thank you to everyone in the Construction industry - we look forward to celebrating you this weekend at the Royals game.

Meet Patrick, the Controller at Abstract.

As a Controller, Patrick manages the accounting department alongside the Director of Accounting and oversees the full cycle of accounting, which includes things like accounts payables, accounts receivables, bank reconciliations, payroll, and financial statements. Patrick joined the team a year ago as of this week (happy anniversary, Patrick!), and has proven himself to be a detail oriented person who has trusted relationships with co-workers across the organization.

When asked about his favourite part of working for Abstract, Patrick said, "It has to be the fantastic people who work here and the culture and acceptance they bring to our community, like allowing me to bring my fur-son Kevin into the office with me to work."

We wouldn't have it any other way, Patrick! Kevin is always a welcome addition to the office.
