The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) is a publicly accountable, statutory corporation formed in 2005 responsible for operating the land title and survey systems of BC. These systems provide the foundation for all real property business and ownership in the province.
LTSA vault records are integral to the land registry and cadastral fabric of BC. Vault records are accessed regularly for information about land titles, plan or other reference numbers, names, boundary descriptions and descriptions of rights granted or reserved.

Freehold Transfer, commonly known as a Form A, is typically used to transfer Fee Simple interest in land. Form As may also create other interests such as Fee Simple on Condition, Determinable Fee Simple, Fee Simple with Exceptions and Reservations, and a Life Estate.

Did you know LTSA and UVic Libraries have an ongoing project partnership to facilitate access to a selection of LTSA’s Historic Records? As part of this partnership, LTSA has scanned and made available digital images of selected historical records from the Surveyor General’s vault.
This digital collection includes scans of a selection of maps, sketches, tracings and notes created between 1846 and 1895, held by the Surveyor General of BC. The records show geographic features, land reserves, settlements, burial grounds, roads, railways, parks, and other aspects. New legislation eliminates registration barriers for First Nations - Effective May 21, amendments to the Land Title Act and Property Law Act specify that First Nations recognized as legal entities under federal law (e.g., Indian Act Bands) will have the legal capacity and ability to register and hold land and interests in land in their First Nation name.
