Dogwood BC
Dogwood brings together British Columbians to reclaim power over our environment and democracy. Then we mobilize. And B.C. That’s what gives us hope.
WHO WE ARE:
Named after B.C.'s provincial flower, Dogwood is a people-powered organization driven by a shared love of place. We bring together voters from all over the political spectrum to work on the urgent challenges facing our home. Our staff work out of Victoria, Courtenay and Burnaby, anchoring volunteer organizing teams in dozens of key ridings. The goal is to build a grassroots base of en

Who's really calling the shots on LNG in British Columbia?
LNG is an intelligence operation TC Energy has spies, soldiers, even a former CIA director pushing pipelines and fracking in B.C. But they’re not invincible.
We’ve never seen such deep collusion between the oil and gas industry and B.C. government regulators. What’s going on? Calgary pipeline giant TC Energy knows their Prince Rupert Gas Transmission project is too risky and expensive to build. So they want to sell it to the Nisga’a Nation. But the project was approved 10 years ago … and its environmental certificate expires this fall. Nobody wants to buy a dead pipeline. The only way to keep PRGT alive is to start construction. So government regulators are bending over backwards to fast-track the pipeline. They’re changing permits in secret. They’re ignoring or deleting legally required conditions. And they’re keeping First Nations along the PRGT route in the dark. It’s pretty shocking, even for the oil and gas industry. But there’s one person who can put the brakes on PRGT and force them to follow the law. It’s Environment Minister George Heyman. Sign our petition at dgwd.ca/pipeline.

Vancouverites pride themselves on their clean air and healthy lifestyles — but things may not be as peachy as they seem. Out of the 17 🇨🇦/🇺🇸 cities surveyed in a new Stanford study, Vancouver’s “natural” gas mix contains the HIGHEST LEVELS of cancer-causing benzene.
And gas stoves leak 24/7 — even when they’re turned off.
“Natural” gas companies like FortisBC bend over backwards to greenwash their toxic product, but people deserve to know the truth.

With another devastating wildfire season upon us and extreme weather events intensifying across the globe, fossil fuel CEO salaries are soaring and politicians are failing to hold them accountable. How do we as climate and social justice activists, united in our vision for a decolonized, decarbonized and just world, meet this moment?
In this bilingual online panel discussion, featuring Indigenous Land Defenders and grassroots activists from across so-called Canada, our friends at the Climate Organizing HUB will ask:
🔥How can we help our communities connect the dots between the fossil fuel industry and intensifying extreme weather events in order to build a more powerful climate justice movement?
🔥How can we best support Indigenous and settler communities in moments of extreme emergency through community-led mutual aid?
🔥How can we work together to build the collective power necessary to leverage extreme weather events into catalysts for holding Big Oil accountable?
🔥And how can we best support ourselves and our fellow activists in moments of emergency and uncertainty by prioritizing practices of care in our work?

This week marks a bitter loss for the people-powered movement that fought the Trans Mountain pipeline and oil tanker project for more than a decade. It's also a chance to reflect on our many victories, the skills and relationships we built, and the lessons we're carrying forward into other campaigns. What are you taking away from the experience?
