Each year, more than 40 students participated in Perimeter’s PSI Start program – a 10-week online crash course in physics for undergraduates prepping for grad school. Of these, 10 are selected for in-person internships, working alongside Perimeter's leading researchers on real problems in theoretical physics.
Earlier this week, our 2024 PSI Start interns showcased their research projects during a poster session, providing a fantastic opportunity for engagement, learning, and discussion with members of the scientific community.

At Perimeter Institute, we value international collaboration as a cornerstone of scientific advancement. Our partnership with the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) exemplifies this commitment.
Located near Tokyo, Japan, the Kavli IPMU focuses on fundamental physics and mathematics. Launched in 2007 under the World Premier International Research Center Initiative, the institute hosts 100 full-time researchers and is an international hub for over 300 researchers in physics, mathematics, and astronomy.
This partnership encourages scientific exchange visits between faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students at both institutes, typically lasting two to four weeks. These exchanges enhance our research capabilities and strengthen global scientific networks.

Last week, Perimeter Institute had the pleasure of hosting Claudia de Rham, a Professor of Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London, for an event exploring her fascinating journey in pursuit of understanding gravity's true nature.
In her book, The Beauty of Falling: A Life in Pursuit of Gravity, Claudia explores her scientific investigations into gravity and the limits of Einstein's general theory of relativity. She also shares her practical experiences with gravity as a diver, pilot, and astronaut candidate.
