May stats are in, and there aren't too many surprises. Overall prices are fairly flat, with average prices increasing 2.3% since April. Sales for apartment-style condos are an exception, as they saw a 5.6% drop in average sale prices. The number of sales are down from the 5-year average, but speculation is that there was some pause out there as buyers waited to hear if the Bank of Canada would adjust the prime rate today. Now that we are seeing some movement from BoC, could we see a big bump in sales this month?
In case you haven't already seen this 10 times this morning, Bank of Canada has officially dropped the prime rate by 0.25%. Everyone do your happy dance now!
