On Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 12-2pm, join Katarina for an insightful workshop designed to increase your awareness of the entire musculoskeletal and myofascial systems through movement, yoga, and self-massage tools like massage balls and wooden dowels.
These techniques can help rehydrate your body, improve circulation, and support detoxification. Combined with breathing exercises and meditation, they will enhance your muscular and myofascial health while relieving tension in tight areas. You will explore the interconnectedness of the myofascial system from head to toe, working on the entire body.

"How do I strengthen my core?" is a common question we hear. Are you looking to dive deeper into your knowledge of the body and transform your understanding of core training?
In this comprehensive and functional course, Rafal Matuszewski, a Personal Trainer, Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), and Kinstretch certified practitioner, will explore the essence of authentic core training. Rafal is a wealth of knowledge and is returning to Live Yoga for this special "Real Core Training" event.
Whether you're a yoga teacher looking to earn continuing education credits (YACEP) or simply want to improve your own movement practice, this course is open to all. Demystify the core through in-depth anatomy lessons, learn proper engagement techniques, and discover how to seamlessly integrate core work into your workouts.

Session 1: Immerse yourself in a 2.5-hour asana class that focuses on deepening your yoga practice with the use of chairs, straps, and bolsters. This session will cover both standing and seated poses, progressing towards backbends and inversions. Students will learn to safely navigate the stages of handstand and push their boundaries to explore the scorpion pose. This multi-level workshop ensures that challenging poses come with various stages and modifications for all levels.
Session 2: The second part of the workshop will delve into more advanced backbending postures, transitioning into restorative and supine poses to calm both the mind and body. The afternoon will conclude with soothing relaxation and meditation practices, fostering a sense of unity between body and mind.

Live Yoga's Prenatal and Mom & Baby Yoga series are unique offerings, drawing on over a decade of our instructor's experience working with expectant and new mothers. Tobey Booker, a mother of two, has created a nurturing space for women to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.
Live Yoga's Prenatal Yoga series guides participants through gentle poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to help soothe the body and mind, alleviate aches and pains, and prepare for labour and delivery. These classes cater to women at any stage of pregnancy and accommodate all birth plans.
After giving birth, our Mom & Baby Yoga classes provide an opportunity for new mothers to regain strength and flexibility while bonding with their infants. The focus is on posture, core/pelvic floor work, breathing, and meditation to help decrease stress and tension. These classes are open to pre-crawling babies and mothers who are at least six weeks post-delivery or post-Caesarean, with medical clearance.
Due to high demand, we have added a second session for both!

As summer fades, we welcome the return to a more regular routine. With kids back in school and the days growing shorter and cooler, it's the perfect time to recommit to your yoga and movement practices. We're thrilled to have you back on the mat or join you in our amazing fall workshops at Live Yoga.

🌱 Akshey's farewell date is on October 2nd - be sure to take a class with him before he departs. Don't miss his workshop on September 21st (link in bio) and his last Slow Flow studio class on Monday, September 30th at 5pm.
🌱Starting October 7th, Monday 5pm class will shift to Hips & Back with Tobey (don't worry the Sunday Hips & Back class continues as well).
A reminder of our upcoming Labour Day weekend closures!
Every year, we close on the September long weekend for a few days so we can do some renovations and extra cleaning at the studio, as well to give our teachers some much needed family time at the end of the summer.

Mom and Baby Yoga is back this September!
This class is a joyful, supportive time for new moms and their babies.Bond with your babe while creating a community with other new moms.
Registration is open for this 6-week session which runs on Wednesdays, Sept 18 - Oct 23rd from 11:00-12:00pm.
This yoga series is a gentle re-introduction to yoga and movement with your little one as you regain strength and flexibility after giving birth. Emphasis will be on posture, core strength / pelvic floor, as well as breathing techniques and meditation to decrease stress and tension. Open to pre-crawling babes, and moms that are six weeks post delivery or six weeks post Caesarean with a doctor or midwife's clearance.
Warrior 2 (Virabhadrasana 2)
This second Warrior pose strengthens your legs and arms, opens your chest and shoulders, and contracts your abdominal organs. Keep your breath regulated and focus on the expansion of your arms, which will help to improve your patience (it will feel that much better when you release!). Keep yourself elevated rather than collapsing with your hips and letting gravity pull you down. Stay strong. Breathe.
Child’s Pose (Balasana) - This restorative pose can help alleviate neck, back, and hip tension.
From your hands and knees, maintain slow, regulated breathing as you extend your arms, allow your hips to sink down, and gently rest your forehead on the mat (or a bolster if you need a little extra support). Child's Pose is one of the most calming and restorative poses in yoga, offering you a chance to rest and reset at any point during your practice.

Pregnant Momma's this series is for you! Join our Pre-Postnatal Fitness Specialist & Prenatal Yoga Instructor Tobey for this popular 6-week series Sundays Sept 15th - Oct 20th, 12:30-1:45pm. Space is limited so register early.
Yoga practice can be extremely helpful in preparing your body and mind for labour and delivery as well as keeping you comfortable and relaxed throughout your pregnancy. Practice gentle poses, breathing, and relaxation to help soothe the body and mind, relieve aches and pains, and connect to your body and your baby. In addition, there is some education around birthing positions, tips and tricks to help prepare your body and your mind for labour, and resources to support you during pregnancy and after.
This is also a great opportunity to connect with other moms, share your experiences, and build lasting friendships.

New to Yoga? You'll love our Beginners Yoga Course: An Introduction to Yoga.
This progressive series was created for beginners! You will learn basic postures and breathing techniques that will help to relieve stress, improve flexibility and strength, and increase your sense of well-being. You do not need to be flexible or have any previous experience with yoga. By the end of the course you will be well prepared to step into a yoga class of your choice with confidence.
Embark on a transformative journey in a day with Akshey, a seasoned yogi hailing from Rishikesh, India, where the ancient art of yoga thrives. This is an all-levels, two part workshop that will take your practice deeper while remaining calm and grounded. It will challenge your practice with asanas (physical postures) and expand what is possible in your yoga practice.

Monday 7pm Gentle Yoga Nidra with Tobey is a deeply restorative and profoundly relaxing practice.
Class begins with moving through a series of gentle, nourishing stretches and soothing restorative yoga poses. Then settling into a comfortable resting position, Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep” follows.
Tobey's soothing voice will lead you through a systematic relaxation of physical form, methodically releasing tension and stress. It's during this state of conscious awareness that the chatter of the inner mind will gradually quiet, allowing you to fully immerse in the present moment. By the end of the session, most emerge feeling deeply rejuvenated, grounded, and restored - both in body and in mind.

At Live Yoga, we are a welcoming, supportive community where people of all backgrounds and abilities can experience the transformative benefits of yoga.
Many people are venturing into yoga for the many benefits it contains. In addition to increasing your strength, stamina, balance, and flexibility, yoga also increases circulation, mental clarity, reduces stress, improves sleep, and provides a sense of well being. There are no quick fixes – however with patience, the rewards yoga offers you are great.
What to expect at the studio:
* Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before class, more if you need to purchase passes or memberships.
* Come to the studio in comfortable clothing. Layers are wonderful so you can "warm up" or "cool down" during the class.
* When you arrive, please check in at the front desk with one of our friendly staff.
* We accept cash, cheques, debit, or credit payment at the studio.
* If it is your first class at Live Yoga, we will ask you to fill out a waiver.
* Please review any concerns or issues with the staff member to ensure you have a safe yoga experience.
* Please turn off your cell phone and all mobile devices.
* Remove your shoes and enter the studio.
* Mats are provided free of charge. You may bring your own mat, or purchase a personal mat from our Well-Being Shop.
* Have a seat on your mat and relax until the teacher begins the class.
* The teacher will provide lots of instruction and model the poses at the front of the room. All of our teachers are certified and will provide modifications for a variety of levels.
* Be sure to listen to your body, and honour any limitations or restrictions. (Yoga is NOT a competitive sport, it is a personal experience).
* Enjoy your class!
* If you have used a studio mat, please clean it with the spray provided.
* Ask the teacher if you have any questions following your yoga experience, we are here to help.
* Try out different classes and different teachers - variety is the spice of life!
