Lightning Bolt Surf Company was founded in 1971 in Hawaii by surfers Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley. It quickly became iconic in the surf world, known for its hand-shaped surfboards featuring the distinctive lightning bolt logo. Gerry Lopez, also known as “Mr. Pipeline” for his legendary skills on the Banzai Pipeline, helped propel the brand to fame with his expert craftsmanship and surfing expertise.

In addition to surfboards, Lightning Bolt became a lifestyle brand, offering surf apparel and accessories that captured the spirit of the surfing subculture. The brand was especially popular during the 1970s and 1980s, becoming synonymous with performance surfing and the laid-back, adventurous surf lifestyle.

Although the brand’s prominence diminished in later years, it was revived and expanded, continuing to offer both surfboards and apparel to a new generation of surfers. Today, Lightning Bolt remains a nostalgic yet influential name in the surf industry, representing both surfing’s past and its enduring legacy.

Since 2016, we’ve been dedicated to roasting high-quality coffee beans, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our loyal customers for their continued support. A special thanks goes out to Mem, our expert roaster, for ensuring each batch is roasted to perfection, consistently achieving the ideal color and profile that brings out the best in our beans. Roasting coffee is an artisan process, and our goal is to continually refine this craft to maximize the rich flavors and unique taste profiles in every cup we serve

Hawaiian Legends!

Duke Paoa Kahanamoku was born August 24, 1890 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the first of six sons and three daughters of Duke and Julia Kahanamoku.
He grew up in carefree Waikiki with the ocean as his playground, doing what he loved – mostly swimming, surfing, canoeing and bodysurfing.

At the age of 21 he won his first Olympic gold medal, then went on to represent the United States in the Olympics for 20 years, winning not only medals but the hearts of people all over the world. He is remembered as a swimmer not just for remarkable speed, but for his grace in the water, his good humor, and his sportsmanship.
