National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Today I remember fourteen young university students, murdered in a mechanical engineering classroom at Montreal's École Polytechnique. Their lives cut short on December 6, 1989, because they were women. A tragic day that forced a reckoning with violence against women in our culture.
Gender based violence is still a very real issue that many women in many parts of the world still face today. It is an issue that we need to talk about more and spread awareness of.

Our dinner tonight: Gado Gado.
Gado-gado is an Indonesian salad of slightly boiled, blanched or steamed vegetables and hard-boiled eggs, boiled potato, fried tofu and tempeh, and lontong, served with a peanut sauce dressing.
An Indonesian dish that you must try when visiting Indonesia.
Today my version of gado gado however is romaine hearts, boiled eggs, boiled potatoes, and lontong (rice cake), Indonesian shrimp crackers, and peanut sauce dressing.
