Holiday break much needed. Will still be a bit quiet on here for another few days until I am back in the city. Hope you’re all resting and enjoying the days as they get longer/shorter. 💫

Cease fire now & always.

Joyeux solstice d’hiver mes chers au nord. This time of year is so special to me and my family and I wish I could be there with them so instead I painted this. I am thé one holding the flowers, the one out of place. But offering them nonetheless, reaching for them across the ocean.

I’ll be doing my families little traditional ceremony tonight under the sky by myself. Always feels a bit silly without la famille but I get by just fine with the sky in my company.
Happy solstice & what you may celebrate!

Cease fire now & always.

Sometimes I regret taking my art public.

It was something originally intended as self soothing and as gifts to family and friends. As a way to make my spaces more beautiful and a reflection of my mind. A way to connect to my mother, father, sister, grandmother, and great aunt.

But I am glad that what benefits me, also has the ability to benefit you-some of you. And that’s enough for me to continue sharing.

Arms that swim and fly.
Arms that hold and love.

I suppose I’ve developed a bit of a fascination around arms since I started experiencing chronic pain in my shoulders. It comes and goes like the weather, but it’s there to remind me of my limits.

This, to remind me, us, that we’re moving forward. Whatever direction that may be.

May the pain end, and the oppressed be freed.

Will be painting/drawing this on paper soon.

Gabriel is a young man dreaming of writing the first Aboriginal science fiction bestseller; Corinne, of Jewish origin and eleven years his senior, teaches Aboriginal literature at university. That evening, without a moment’s hesitation, friends are invited to the couple’s table. They represent two social clichés at opposite ends of the spectrum: Gabriel’s radical activist native « chums » and Corinne’s vegan environmentalist intellectual friends.

On the menu for this satire of our irreconcilable cultural differences, moose meat and vegan lasagne. Everything is in place for the unfolding of this situational comedy.

📌Dates : from January 9 to 20

What an insanely busy week.

Online sale, market this Sunday in Winnipeg AND on top of all that I am moving into a new rental this weekend (the insanity is not at an end yet) AND started training for my new job which I love. I know it’s only been 3 days in…but my co-workers are a bunch of sweeties and I just feel incredibly lucky, and excited about what I can bring to the team. 😊

Above is *technically* my second little mural in Aotearoa and I think very likely not the last. Swipe to the right to see my first 6 years ago-shout to Chris for inviting me to leave a bit of Manitoba in à Christchurch pantry! I’ll be starting my job full time in January with keeper kids, so if you’re in Nelson/Whakatu come say hi 👋🏼! And if you’ve got ideas on art & products you’d like to see in the shop let me know, I might be able to assist with that.
