Tandem Collaborative
Meaningful marketing and business strategy.
Think about all the ways your clients interact with your brand. ✨
Every experience someone has with your brand shapes the way your product or service is perceived. Small choices like tone matching on your website copy, social media content and business cards all build your brand.
✨Make sure each connection is consistent, elevated, and on brand.
Look at this list and consider if your brand would feel the same at each touchpoint for a consumer. 👀
I know how isolating it can be as an entrepreneur. Having a sounding board with people who have been there, and want you to succeed can make all the difference.
Thank you so much, Daniel, for leaving a Google Review. If you’ve worked with Tandem (or any other local company you loved) and want to help us thrive, consider leaving a review.
It’s amazing to see our clients, like Daniel, thrive in our city!
Whether you work for yourself or not, these three tips are things EVERYONE should be doing at work.
✨Working for yourself has inevitable ups and downs. Create a folder to keep all your positive feedback to boost yourself up when you need it.
If you’re doing a great job for someone else, document your successes. This will come in handy when you are asking for a promotion or pay raise.
✨Some meetings truly could be an email, or text, or quick phone call. Start pushing back, or declining meetings when you know you don’t need to be there. Stating what other tasks your prioritizing will go a long way.
✨You’re the expert! People have hired you because they want your ideas and opinions. Your thoughts are legitimate and help build a diverse space.
Which one of these do you need to start working on?
Your business, brand, and communications strategies all rely on each other, so it’s important to have an intuitive understanding of each phase.
To break it down:
✨A business strategy decides which markets to target, what products or services to offer, and how to stand out from competitors.
✨A brand strategy is how a company wants customers to see it. The goal is to build a brand that customers recognize and trust.
✨A communications strategy is a plan for how a company shares information with people. It should build relationships and keep people interested in the brand.
When these strategies work together, they help the company grow, build strong customer relationships, and reach its goals.
👉IMO, having a small business is a huge advantage in this area because all the “departments” have a strong understanding of each other.
📧If you have a question about the difference between these strategies or how they work together, leave it in the comments or send me a DM!
I said it a million times, and I’ll say it again: your brand is not just your logo, colours, or product/service!
While these factors do play an important part — your brand is more than just those choices. Your brand is the feeling your customers get when they interact with your biz. Your brand is built with every interaction and touch point you have with your potential buyers.
This is another one of the reasons it’s important to remain consistent across all of your touchpoints!

Last week I had a couple of moments where I was really proud of the work that happening in our city and grateful that I am able to be a part of it. ✨
🎤Working with Downtown Winnipeg BIZ , I helped announce plans to enhance public safety in Winnipeg with a comprehensive downtown safety action plan with Premier Wab Kinew, Minister Uzoma Chioma , Mayor Scott Gillingham, Downtown Community Safety Partnership Winnipeg and N’Dinewmak.
The government is investing nearly $1.5 million in various initiatives, including expanded support for the Downtown Community Safety Partnership, increased mental health training, and the establishment of a sobering centre.
💼Earlier in the week, I had the opportunity to advocate for small businesses on a walk with the Downtown Winnipegpg BIZ team and Federal Minister of Small Businesses Rechie Valdez.
I felt heard when sharing the wins, and concerns, of small businesses downtown, which leads me to thank the national, provincial and municipal leaders for listening and responding to the concerns of small businesses.
I love being able to dive into your business and individually help you reach your goals, but it makes me happy to get the chance to step back and give input to collectively help small businesses grow in our city. ✨
What keeps you feeling inspired?
It is always incredible to work with small businesses in Winnipeg who are truly making our city a more vibrant place to hang around. ✨
The Amsterdam Tea Room and Bar offers unique tea-inspired cocktails, tasty small plates for sharing, a cozy atmosphere and you can even take their teas and cocktail syrups home!
I loved working with Mark on this project and am excited to watch their business grow!
I’ve been thinking about, talking about and trying out ways to help business owners feel more confident, see their potential and align their purpose to their business. This is how I landed on these three offers:

Hey, Amelia here.
I can hardly believe that it’s been almost 4 years since Larissa and I started Tandem and began working with small business owners with the goal of helping them grow their businesses by uncovering and leveraging their authentic identity. ✨
I’ve always been a little shy to share my not-so-traditional past and wished I could talk about my MBA or marketing degree. But I recognize that my past and path are the unique recipe that got me here. The more I talk to leaders and entrepreneurs in our city, the more I realize that your unique experiences are EXACTLY what make you qualified to do the work you love.
Some of my past jobs have included bartender, contemporary dancer, music festival founder, event planner, business owner and manager of The Forks Market. But the biggest thing in my life that’s shaped the work I do now is owning a cafe in my twenties for six years and learning EVERYTHING by trial and error. ☕️ I remember the thrill of feeling like something I created was bringing meaning to people’s lives AND I remember the fear of feeling like I was totally stuck with getting to the next level of the business.
I look back at all the imaginary limits I put on myself without ever realizing it. I bring this lens to my work with clients as an outside perspective that is compassionate (I get how hard it is!) and pushes them to see paths that may not be obvious from the inside. My absolute favourite thing about my work is when I get to witness the pivotal a-ha moments that can change the trajectory of a business by amplifying a business owner’s confidence in themselves. Seriously, it gives me goosebumps just writing it.
Since heading up Tandem on my own (although I am fortunate to work with an incredible group of subcontractors), I’ve been thinking a lot about the best ways to serve small business owners from my own unique experience and have a couple new offers coming your way.
👉If you know a business owner who runs an incredible business and might be ready for a boost to the next level, please share this post with them.
Always grateful to have you along for the ride – Amelia 💚
This is what it looks like when Winnipeg shows up — even when it’s +6 in May. 💪
I went to Storefrontmb 's Table for 1200 this year with the crew from Downtown Winnipeg BIZ . Dining outdoors at an iconic Winnipeg location was amazing, as always, but what’s even better is watching the community collaboration.
Six of Winnipeg’s top chefs (Chef Ben Kramer, Chef Harold Mitchell, Christina Guenther, Jessica Young, Emily Butcher, and Renée Girard), event planners, alcohol vendors, sponsors, and so many other sponsors worked together to make this happen. PLUS, the people who showed up to decorate tables or just enjoy a good meal with great company.
It was a good reminder that we have an incredibly supportive community here in Winnipeg. 💚If you have a great idea, you should go for it! Our community has proven again and again that they’ll show up, whether that looks like a or any other product or service you think people would enjoy.
Do you have an idea you think our community would benefit from? I’d love to hear it! 👇
Where would you be in one year if you didn’t change anything in your business?
If you’re not excited about the answer, think about one thing you can take action on now so you see the change you’re looking for one year from now.

✨Your mission= Who you serve, how you serve them and the contribution you make
✨Your vision= Your aspirations, how you want to impact to the world with your contribution
✨Your values= Your guiding principles that govern your day-to-day decision making
I've worked with over 70 businesses since starting Tandem in 2020. They are from different industries and in different stages of their business journey, but some of the things that align them all are:
✨They believe in their purpose
✨Profit is a product of their purpose, not their driving force
✨They truly care about their customers
✨They want to make a positive impact

Stop putting the expectations of a business with multiple employees on yourself. ✋
You’re only one person and need to make room for when things go off track, when you need to take care of yourself or someone else, or when you have a rough day (like a normal human being).
👇 Share a piece of advice that helps you when you’re overwhelmed.
I always work with my clients to create a mission and vision statement and define values as guiding principles. I think this is a critical exercise in defining your brand and putting your purpose into words and ideas that can be repeated in systems and processes.
Many of the clients I work with are in a phase of growth where they need to formalize their purpose so that it can be understood by more people and integrated into systems. The business can no longer be as dependent on their day-to-day involvement at this stage. Creating a mission, vision and guiding principles helps them by:
-Unifying their team towards a bigger purpose
-Making faster and more aligned decisions
-Creating marketing materials that tap into more than the product or service they offer
-Reminding them why they do what they do every day, even when they hit the inevitable lows of business ownership
Here’s what it looks like working with Tandem: a friendly face; a sounding board for your big ideas, and an invested, attentive and professional teammate.

👉What is your brand?
A brand is:
-Your logo and graphics
-The type of language you use
-The types of images you choose to represent you
-How or whether people are integrated into your brand
-How you hire & how you train your staff as ambassadors of your brand
-The way you make your customers feel in any given interaction with your organization whether that’s on your website, social media or in-person.
✨The choices you make about how you represent your organization or project ARE YOUR BRAND. ✨
Having a brand is essential for business growth because it fosters recognition, builds trust, and sets you apart from competitors.
