FALL QUILTING At Lindenwoods Community Center


SOMETHING NEW! EVENING CLASSES have been added. Yay! However, the only evening available was Friday, so I took it and we will hope for the best. I have tried to include classes that will be suitable for both absolute beginners and experienced quilters. We will start off with an appliqué class suitable for both then I’ll offer a comprehensive ' how to class' on basic quilt making. So, here we go: the fall schedule right through to Christmas. You will notice October is missing, I will explain in class.



ALL ABOUT APPLIQUÉ



Appliqué is confusing only because there are so many ways to achieve the same result. Let’s simplify this and help you find what works best for you. This class will give you lots of hands-on practice with preparation of fabric, hand and machine methods, stitching options, layering and embellishing. Once you choose your favourite method, it will open up a whole world of creative possibilities. Absolute beginners and experienced quilters are welcome. Sewing machine is not required, it is optional.



Friday, Sept 8, 15 & 22. Daytime 1-4pm. 3 classes- $90.





INTRODUCTION TO QUILT MAKING



If you are completely new to quilting or would like a good refresher this class will be a great hands-on opportunity to practice all the essential skills. We will cover rotary cutting, accurate piercing, colour theory, block assembly, design principles, sashing and borders, preparation of the quilt layers, basic hand and machine quilting techniques, and finally the binding. That’s a lot but I promise it will be presented in a way that will give you a clear understanding of how a quilt is built. Sewing machine is not required, it is optional.



Friday, Sept 8, 15 & 22. Evenings 6:30 - 9:30. 3 classes: $90.





FOLK ART TABLE RUNNER



This is a gorgeous table decoration or wall quilt. You can make it to suit any season or occasion. This class will move fairly quickly and most of the sewing will be done at home. It is suitable for new beginners and experienced quilters. However, new beginners must have taken the introduction to quilt making class or have taken another basic class. Sewing machine is optional but recommended.



Friday, Nov 10, 17, & 24. Days 1-4pm or Evenings 6:30-9:30. 3 classes: $90.













CUTTING, PIECING & DESIGNING CURVES & CIRCLES



This is one of my favourite classes. Curves are fabulous! They elevate the humble quilt to something exciting and dynamic. Curves are not difficult to sew and there are so many variations of how to place them in a quilt. You will be designing your own small quilt and you can either quilt by hand or bring your sewing machine. This class is open to everyone including beginners.



Friday Dec 1, 8, & 15. Days 1-4 pm. Or Evenings 6:30-9:30. 3 classes: $90.
