Well!! It’s a wrap! All the photos taken over the weekend at the AAC Agility Regionals SK|MB|NU have been downloaded from my camera cards, catalogued by dog’s name, and are now ready for the editing process. Here’s a peek from the first photo package uploaded for Charlie & Winny (I will post the link to the Gallery in comments). More to come!

A huge thank you again to AIM and the Regional committee for putting on one of the most efficient shows I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of. I enjoyed all the conversations over the weekend, talking ‘shop’, and learning about the various dogs, and the intricacies of this intimate sport.

The completion of the editing process is anticipated to take about 2-3 weeks, with an average of 5-7 ordered packages uploaded per day. It takes about 2 hrs for each dog’s package, so if for example your dog is Priority Posting #27, you can expect to see images in about a 7-8 days after the event. Dog's albums will be listed in order of priority so you can see where you are on the list.

How do you see photos from this event?

1. COMPLETE THE ORDER FORM - Photographer will choose the best variety to fulfil your order and save you the aggravation. If you ordered your photo packages in advance - THANK YOU! Your TOP DOG purchases will be uploaded in the order they were received. You will receive an email when ready, but feel free to visit the gallery link (in comments) so you can enjoy seeing what’s been captured, while you wait for yours. The Bare Bones and Candid Canine packages will be completed after the TOP DOG priority orders. ORDER FORM link will be in comments if you have not yet placed an order.

2. REQUEST AN ONLINE/IN-PERSON VIEWING - If you would like the option to choose your own images to fulfil a package order, an online Zoom meeting, or an in-person viewing can be arranged. My camera files are shot in a RAW format that are not readable unless converted to Jpeg (which is done after the editing stage). What I can do to aid viewing, is use my editing software and share my computer screen with you so you can see your images. Just get in touch with me and I’ll setup a meeting for you.

3. REQUEST A SCREEN CAPTURE OF THUMBNAILS TO CHOOSE FROM - If an online viewing is not feasible, but you’d like to know if I have any images for you, I can send you a screen capture of a selection of ~40 thumbnails to choose from. From these, you can select the images you want to complete your photo package order.

The photos are coming! The photos are coming! YAY!!

I had a bit of a scare with a corrupted computer file and spent most of Saturday night and part of Sunday attempting to repair it, researching solutions, and eventually giving up and transferring files from scratch.

Note to self… when you get a new laptop, just because it’s portable doesn’t mean you should bring it in the field and try to download photos in a tent during a wind-storm. Yup, during import my external drive got knocked off the table, bent the cord, and disconnected itself when it hit the ground. This of course happened right in the middle of transferring files from my camera card to the computer. I thought I just lost that particular session but Lightroom (the program where I import the photos to) didn’t tell me that the catalogue I have been using for the last 4 years (where all my edits and key-wording information like a dog's name, are stored), is now corrupt and unusable. Of course this error message did not appear until after I imported the 3,500 of images from the Saturday show. F* #@ me!! Everything I just did was lost, and possibly everything from the last 4 years! Yikes!?

Luckily, I had some backups from my old computer and was able to create a new Animal Sporting Event catalogue. I did lose a week’s worth of editing from the previous show I did, and all the work I just completed on the Disc & Dock event this past weekend. But finally, I'm happy to say, I’ve started on the editing process.
