CoPilot Co.
A VISUALS COMPANY. Virtual Production, AI, & Filmmaking
For our latest project “Alien Mutiny,” we partnered with some of the leading names in the virtual production and filmmaking industries to show how their technology can be used in virtual production workflows for indie filmmaking.
The HTC VIVE Mars CamTrack system is one of the best camera tracking systems at an indie price-point. With three portable trackers, setup was a breeze. Big thanks to the one and only Wen for always pushing the VP industry forward.
We filmed on our 20 feet by 10 feet LED wall comprised of ROE BP2V2 LED Panels. These panels have become the golden standard in the VP industry and they are incredibly reliable and easy to assemble.

SmallRig’s Carbon Fibre Tripod, Camera Accessories & Follow Focus System took our cinematography to the next level. The Carbon Fibre Tripod’s light weight made it easy for us to move our camera when flipping our set.
Experiencing the development of AI powered motion capture over these past few years has been nothing short of incredible! In true indie fashion, we wanted to show off what creators can achieve with just an iPhone and the Move One iOS app. The single-camera motion capture, quick data processing, and convenient data transfer all saved us valuable time.
The Tessera line-up of LED processors is our choice not just for our own virtual production setups, but for our clients as well, thanks to it’s reliability and intuitive interface.
Blackmagic camera systems have been our go-to for years, but the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 is our powerhouse for virtual production, thanks to its ability to be genlocked.
We made a VP short film. Out now: https://youtu.be/nqtvYOvZu5Q
Here at CoPilot, we’re big fans of the Alien franchise, so with the release of Alien: Romulus, we made a short film to showcase what indie filmmakers can do with virtual production.

A quick Team Canada Trade Mission recap 📸🇨🇦🇰🇷
Last month, CoPilot had the honour of travelling to Seoul as delegates for the Team Canada Trade Mission to South Korea.
As the only Manitoba company selected to represent the Creative Industries, we are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to build relationships with South Korean partners, and showcase our work in the virtual production, XR, and AI industries.
Our trip was filled with action packed meetings, site visits, and opportunities to develop strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region. We’re excited to share some of these projects soon 🤫
A big thank you to .affairs.canada & .heritage for making opportunities like this possible.
“What if we just try to BREAK it?” — Our content team meeting, circa last week
36 HOURS, 2 POOL rentals, and 1 SUNKEN IPHONE later, we discovered the limits of Move One’s AI motion tracking tool.
Until recently, motion tracking technology used in Hollywood has been expensive, and inaccessible— especially to small studios and creators like us. But the rise of AI-powered motion tracking has levelled the playing field, making motion tracking possible with ONE single iPhone.
We’ve had a lot of fun and spent hours testing Move.ai's new app over the past few weeks, and we’re excited to share our results below.
New office, same address ✈️ 🙏
After the last 5 years of being in the same (small) office space, we’ve finally expanded!
Some features of the new space include:
- A dedicated R&D space for our AI/ML and Virtual Production teams to collaborate
- 3 YouTube Studios
- Fully decked out editing suite
- A shiny new CoPilotXR sign that took way too long to ship
- Some awesome new team members
Can’t wait to share more about the new space and upcoming projects!
We're very excited to introduce FlightDeck, our brand new tool allowing creators to control Unreal Engine 5 like never before.
With FlightDeck, creators can harness the full power of UE5 in a new and intuitive way - all without leaving the engine. The video below shows how FlightDeck integrates seamlessly with external platforms like Cesium and Google Maps, allowing users to control the engine using simple conversational prompts.
We jumped head first into the world of virtual production years ago and found Unreal Engine to be incredibly powerful, but quite overwhelming to learn. Drawing on our filmmaking roots, we wondered: 'Can we make this easier for creators like us to control?'
That question has been at the heart of our work ever since.
We invite you to join the crew as we continue to redefine what's possible with Unreal Engine.

The team here at CoPilot had the opportunity to be part of an epic project for lululemon called A Big Run.
A Big Run represents the commitment, dedication, and passion that many community athletes share amongst one another. It aims to inspire viewers by showcasing the raw emotions, challenges, and sacrifices that many athletes feel and overcome when they train for their own personal milestones.
We created this film to highlight Junel Malapad’s 7-day, 490km run across the province of Manitoba in support of mental health awareness.
Big thank you to Junel and his team for allowing us to follow them on their journey.
