While one of the major driving forces behind Iskry is our love of sharing our culture, we couldn't do what we do without the support of all the amazing volunteers behind the scenes at Folklorama. Without our volunteers there's no pavilion and no show, they're the kielbasa to our pierogi and we are endlessly thankful for all they do!

When polled - The number 1 reason Iskry members started dancing was because their mom made them. The number 1 reason they stayed, is because their mom was right.
Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful moms in our lives! You teach us patience and kindness. Thank you for driving us to practice, ironing our costumes, and making sure we're always ready for a performance. Without your support, Iskry members would not be where they are today.

This year the Canadian government has recognized May as Polish Heritage Month in Canada. It celebrates and acknowledges the contributions of the many Polish communities throughout Canada. We are thankful to be one of those communities; SPK Iskry was founded in 1967 by Mr. Henryk Lorenc. Since then Iskry has strived to entertain and inspire through the celebration of Polish dance and song.

Happy Polish Constitution Day (Święto Konstytucji Trzeciego Maja)🎉 Today, we commemorate the declaration of the Constitution of 3 May 1791 – a pivotal moment in Polish history and Europe's first modern constitution. Let's celebrate the spirit of democracy and unity that continues to inspire us. 🎊📜

Today, we here in Manitoba proudly honor the legacy of Louis Riel, the visionary founder of our province. His courage and dedication to the Métis community hold special significance for us.

Today we celebrate the wonderful and caring grandmothers in our lives. Iskry would not be who we are without their support. Be they an expert seamstress, a great cook, or the one able to drive you to practice, we love and cherish them all. Bardzo dziękujemy wszystkim Babciom. ❤️🇵🇱

Iskry is hard at work with plans for 2024, but let's take a minute to look at some of the highlights from last year.
We learned several new choreographys in anticipation for our 55th Anniversary Concert; Footsteps Through Poland - including the original Krakowiak that Iskry performed in its early years. The Gala dinner leading up to it was a huge success & many memories were made. We performed for multiple dancers’ weddings, which brought us to our southernmost performance, Mexico! Of course Folkorama, and caroling, but also dancing at a Moose game?! It was a busy year, and we couldn't have been happier.

We are always proud to perform the Polonaise. It bridges the gap between our homes in Canada with our families in Poland. A simple dance, that can still find ways to dazzle.
