Ruzigrass as cover crop improves the potassium partial balance and use by subsequent cotton

Ruzigrass as cover crop improves the potassium partial balance and use by subsequent cotton - Nutrient Cycling in Agroecosystems In soil, potassium (K) is present as structural K, non-exchangeable K (Kne) and exchangeable K (Ke). Exchangeable K is considered available to plants, but exudates from plant roots and microbes can dissolve Kne and make it available. Some grasses used as cover crops are particularly efficient in rel...

Current Phosphorus and Potassium Fertiliser Application Rates Do Not Limit Tuber Yield and Quality in Potato Production Systems in the Netherlands - Potato Research 07/02/2024

Potassium: The Key to Soil Fertility - IPI 28/01/2024

New IPI video clip: Potassium - The Key to Soil Fertility

A lack of plant nutrients at the optimum ratio and sufficient levels means soil fertility declines, crop yields and quality decrease, and farmers’ profits fall too. This is an issue that is all too real for farmers in India, and all around the world.

Every time we harvest a crop, we remove nutrients from the soil, and most crops extract more potassium than any other nutrient. This is why adding potassium is so important for soil.

If the potassium level isn’t sufficiently replenished through fertilization, the soil can become potassium deficient, and crop productivity suffers.

Replenishing the potassium in the soil with potash fertilizer ensures crops get adequate potassium to deliver bountiful, high-quality yields.

Potash application delivers the potassium needed to ensure good crop establishment and is essential for optimum growth all the way to harvest.
