Reminder for this week

* this is the week dedicated to shoulder openings and inversions. We will spend much time stretching and strengthening the shoulder area in preparation for the classic inversions. Inversions are a blessing for the body and mind. They stimulate the circulation in the brain and have a balancing effect on the mind.

* new replacement for this week! Sevinc will teach all classes this week. She is an experienced Yogini, currently at the end of her training to become an Iyengar Yoga teacher.

* NO Yoga lessons this coming Friday and Saturday .

* this is the week of Restorative Yoga and Pranayama...this is in many senses the most important yoga topic of all. Give yourself a truly restorative break, charge your batteries and step even if only briefly in the journey within that inevitably occurs with the practice of Pranayama. Keep in mind that, in a classical sense, practicing Asanas is meant as a preparation for Pranayama ( and meditation). * This is the week of backbends. Backbends are meant to be the most important family of asanas : the older we get, the more important they become! not only are they a boon for the back ( with enough support à la Iyengar Yoga anyone can practice them) but are also essential to sustain a healthy posture. * this is the week of twists, during which we will practice standing and sitting asanas with an accent on rotation....there is hardly a better way to extend the spine than by practicing supported, revolved poses. They also have a great effect on the health of the inner organs and therefore also on digestion!
