Zwei Jahre lang haben wir mit einem jungen, engagierten Filmteam den Kinofilm "Typisch Emil" gedreht. Wir hatten sogar einen Hund im Team. Zum Glück aber nicht hinter der Kamera!
Es war gar nicht so leicht, dieses Filmprojekt zwei Jahre lang geheim zu halten. Um so schöner, dass ich jetzt freudig ankündigen kann: am Do. 7.11.2024 startet der Film in den Deutschschweizer Kinos … und er wird auch in der Romandie, im Tessin und sogar in Deutschland laufen.

Mixing and Mastering with Janis Jaunalksnis - actually we mixed some months ago, an entire record with 8 songs, just in 4 hours. We met to finish it, however our 4-hour mix was just perfect, so all we finally did, was cleaning some noises in the fade outs:-). And I shot some picture of Janis:-)

It was such a magical moment when I conducted the seminar "The Sheer Pleasure of Sound" with Al Schmitt and George Massenburg. I am happy that I organized this big event. Somehow, I felt that I had to do it in 2019, especially because I wanted Al Schmitt to be a part of it. Unfortunately, he passed away 16 months later. May he rest in peace. Now I should do another conference, hopefully soon!

In a studio, accurate and precise monitoring is paramount. At the new Idee und Klang Himmelried, we have made no compromises in this regard. The CADAC analog console is strategically placed on the opposite side of the room, giving us a minimal working surface in front of the Strauss Elektroakustik North America SE-MF2 mastering monitors. The loudspeakers are placed on a concrete foundation to prevent the rest of the floor from vibrating. The meticulously planned acoustics, designed by Markus Zehner, also include directing some of the bass energy under the floor for absorption.

Adding to the perfection is the use of Weiss Engineering DAC1 MK3 as our DA converter.

Every detail has been considered to create an environment where sound can be evaluated and crafted with the utmost precision.
