In September, the Doha Module at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) concluded with an inspiring closing ceremony. Our students from the Geneva Graduate Institute Executive Education DPP-MENA and DPP-CFM Programmes gathered with Leslie Pal, Founding Dean of the College of Public Policy, HBKU (CPP), to mark the milestone.
Wrapping up Module 1, students set their thesis topics and laid out research plans for the months ahead. We’re excited to see these projects evolve and make an impact!

🕛 Since completing the DPP programme in 2020, our alumnus Ishmael Kwasi Selassie, now National Programme Analyst for Adolescent and Youth Development at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Accra, has been at the forefront of impactful projects.

🤝 His work includes leading initiatives to prevent child marriage in Cape Coast and managing a youth fellowship programme, offering 35 candidates a year-long training with UNFPA.

Recently, our DPP Programme Manager Sofia Mueller and Pakari Klappenbach visited Accra to meet with Ishmael and film an interview to capture his reflections on his journey through the DPP programme and his ongoing efforts in youth development.

💧 During 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝟭 of the Development Policy and Practice (DPP) Programme in Bishkek, our cohort embarked on an enlightening field trip that took them from the water sources of Ala Archa National Park to the Bishkek water reservoir near the waste management facility.

🔎 This hands-on experience complemented their learning about climate change and local environmental challenges. It offers a practical demonstration of how water is managed from its source to its endpoint in the city.

This module was held in collaboration with the American University of Central Asia and coordinated by DPP academic coordinator Assel Tutumlu.
