Last week, in celebration of World Blood Donor day, Yaoundé shapers initiated a sensitisation and blood donation campaign on the campus of the University of Yaoundé 1.
This campaign was our second edition of for the year 2022.

With more than 70 000 students, the university of Yaoundé 1 represents a large source of young and healthy potential blood donors. Having access to that campus is a major win and brought us closer to our goal of educating 100 000 youth on the importance of regular blood donation.

The national blood demand is estimated at 400 000 pints, but the country has never reached 150 000 donations. We believe that by putting an emphasis on sensitising young people we’ll be able to fill the gap in the coming years.

🩸On March 16 some of our members donated blood a second time, bringing the donation count for 2022 up to 7!

🎉 We are about one third of the way to our goal for the year already!! 🎉

We also now have 11 members on the team! 👏 Thanks to all who have donated or who have an appointment booked!

Keep up your amazing work and keep saving lives

The 9th and the 17th of February, after 2 weeks of sensitization, we organised 2 blood drives on the campuses of 2 universities. We are proud to share that 116 students came and donated blood. Amongst the collected pints of blood, only 3 were discarded. That’s a total of 113 pints that will be used to save lives. We are thankful to our partners, and to all the students and university staff who donated for this big cause.
Cameroon is going through a catastrophic blood shortage. According to the National Blood Transfusion Center, the country needs 400 000 pints of blood, every year, to meet the medical needs of its citizens. Less than 100 000 donations are made yearly. More action is needed, that's why we will keep working with health professionals towards a solution.

First webinar of the Blood Donation project, joined by 39 students from Ze Bancairo IAS Study Circle. Except for one attendee, everybody else had never donated blood before and we encouraged them to donate blood, shared the importance of the same eand helped attendees overcome their fear and misconceptions about donating blood.

We have also created a database of eligible blood donors that we can use in time of need!

s Blood4All est une campagne de sensibilisation et de collecte de sang, initiée par la et menée dans plusieurs villes à travers le monde. Son Objectif principal est de sensibiliser à grande échelle sur l’importance des dons de sang volontaires réguliers. Dans le cadre de la campagne Blood4All 2022, le hub de Yaoundé organise 2 collectes de sang les 09 et 16 Février sur les campus de l’ESS-UCAC et de l’UCAC Ekounou. Posez un acte héroïque en cette nouvelle année; venez faire un don.
