Did you know that spices can improve your digestion?
Daily work stress, a sedentary lifestyle, and unhealthy eating habits such as eating at irregular times, eating too much, or eating on the go cause us to have unproductive digestive systems resulting in overall poor gut health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a result of this, we might face symptoms such as gas, bloating, indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other gastric issues. Digestion plays a very significant role in deciding if the body is in good health or not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 9 herbs of Ayurveda that can work wonders for boosting up the digestion process! And you can get them in every big supermarket:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Cumin
✨ Fennel seeds
✨ Cardamom
✨ Ginger
✨ Turmeric
✨ Clove
✨ Cinnamon
✨ Black Pepper
✨ Garlic
Save this list to remember these spices 💛🙏🏽 And if you want to get your hands on one of Neelam's Handcrafted Spice Blends 👉 Send me a DM

Why I am so passionate about spices (and you should be too)✨🌶 :
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All spices contain a varying degree of AGNI, the fire 🔥 that helps digest & metabolize our food. Ayurveda dives deep into the healing benefits of spices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Exploring the personalities of each spice & how they interact with our unique constitution can profoundly impact the state of your digestive health. Seriously there is an entire science behind this!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What you eat and the spices you use have a direct impact on your body & well-being. I'm sure we've all eaten a chilli before and noticed immediately how hot it is. The effect is immediate. 🥵
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The fact is that not only chillis have an effect on our body, but all spices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An Ayurvedic consultation incorporates applicable, bite-sized gems of ancient wisdom including how to use spices in your everyday meals to promote more balance & harmony in your digestive system and inevitably affects the health of your whole body, mind & consciousness.

If you are interested in getting your personalized consultation, send me a message 💜 I speak fluent German, Swiss German, Hindi and English

Ayurvedic breakfast 🍎 Start your day with stewed apples for optimal health and digestion
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The mornings are filled with potential for abundance. You have the power within yourself to set yourself up for success each day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In order to prepare our bodies to take on the day, we need to make sure we are eating a breakfast that supports our gut health rather than putting strain on our digestive tract.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stewed apples are not only hearty, comforting and delicious, but they aid digestion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apples stewed with warming spices make this powerful fruit come to life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to Ayurveda, stewed apples are a tridoshic dish, meaning it serves the qualities of Vata, Kapha and Pitta, as well as, all types of digestion.

Hormone imbalances and the Doshas
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the texts of Ayurveda, there is actually no special reference to ‘hormones’ 🤫 Instead, the ancient physicians understood how our organs and body systems - thyroid, pancreas, te**es, ovaries, etc., worked together to maintain balance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They provided solutions to hormonal issues - reproductive and metabolic disorders such as PMS, diabetes, and thyroid disease by balancing the doshas.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just as your hormones are an interplay of organs and systems, the doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha all play an integral role in your hormonal health.

Here are the 6 staple spices you should always have in your kitchen:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Growing up in an Indian household means growing up with a lot of spices! In some western households, however, people are rather cautious when it comes to using spices in their cooking.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spices don't just add flavor to your meals but also
have the power to heal you from within.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These are the 6 spices I would recommend you to buy:
🌿 Cinnamon
🌿 Turmeric
🌿 Cumin Seeds
🌿 Mustard Seeds
🌿 Fennel Seeds
🌿 Coriander Seeds
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to learn more about spices and how to use them for on personal health journey, send me a DM and we can set up our first consultation together 💜

The Vata dosha contains the properties of the elements ether and air. Vata is responsible for our energy and movement, as well as nerve impulses. Breath, speech, circulation, digestion - all this is an expression of Vata.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you feel like your Vata is out of balance or you are just generally interested in learning more about Ayurveda and its holistic approach to health, feel free to DM me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The three doshas (life forces) Vata, Pitta, and Kapha determine each person's individual constitution. All recommendations of Ayurvedic medicine are based on this so-called Ayurvedic type.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kapha is a combination of the earth and water elements. Kapha, therefore, combines characteristics such as heavy, slow, and steady, but also soft, dense, tough, and cold. In the body, Kapha is responsible for strength, all structures, and the right amount of body fluids.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your Kapha dosha is out of balance and you want to feel balanced again, send me a DM to book your first appointment so we can work together to create a personalized plan for your Ayurvedic treatment.

3 Ayurvedic tools to help you reduce stress
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stress is an inevitable part of life. However, it does not have to rule your life and it is up to you to reduce the stress in your life. Here are a few simple remedies that Ayurveda recommends as proven ways to reduce stress.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And make sure to read until the end for a small but important reminder 💛
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, do you feel 'stressed' or feel an overwhelm in everyday life?
Guess what? You are not alone!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst I am currently in the process of setting up my practice beside my regular day job, which brings so much joy, gratitude & excitement, it surely does come with a bit of extra stress.
This led me to share a little bit about “stress”, how it affects our lives, and what we can do about it this week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every system in the body is impacted by 'stress'. Right from your digestive fire (Agni) to metabolic functions to your immune system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and even your heart–all the systems that are responsible for making sure that your body continues to function smoothly–are adversely influenced by excess stress.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When the body perceives stress, the body gets kicked into a flight or fight response which is governed by the sympathetic nervous system. The body equates a normal day of deadline stress to a situation where you’re chased by a predator. Blood flow to the extremities is fast, heart rate increases and glucose use is redirected to help you fight stress. Thus, over-activation of the fight or flight response leads to decreased immunity and increased inflammation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the other hand, when you sit around the campfire or spend time with your loved ones your body also recognises the safe space. The parasympathetic nervous system then stimulates digestion, encourages nutrient absorption and regulates sleep.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Next, I will be talking about how stress also can be beneficial to your dosha. Stay tuned for that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Never stop learning 🌿 Last Sunday I learned a lot about the local medicinal plants in Switzerland.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ayurveda, as you may already know, originates from India, and a lot of work is done with Indian medicinal plants.

But did you know that there are more than 4 seasons in Ayurveda?
According to Ayurveda, a calendar year is made up of two solstices:
👉 Uttarayana (Adana Kala) or Northern Solstice and
👉 Dakshinayana (Visarga Kala) or Southern Solstice.
Each Ayana is made up of 6 months. These 6 months are again divided into 3 seasons of 2 months each.
Thus, each Ayana comprises of 3 seasons which run a period of 2 months.
Swipe right to learn more.
The 4 tips explained:
Spices enhance the effect of food and help to treat imbalances diseases
Eat your biggest meal at lunch, because that's when the sun is at its highest and your digestive power is at its strongest.
Avoid drinking with meals, as this limits the digestive fire. Ideally, wait 30 minutes until after the meal to give your body time to digest.
In general, it is better not to enjoy cold drinks. Choose warm ones instead. This does not necessarily mean coffee or tea, but simply water. Warm water has a cleansing and digestive effect and, moreover, does not drain the body of energy.

Right; eating intuitively - does that even work?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each of us is different when it comes to our food habits and needs.
Also, each of us resides in a different body, which also has different needs at any given time.
Do you manage to listen to it and adjust your diet accordingly or are you more of a creature of habit?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About me, I struggled with learning how to listen to the signs my body was giving me early on, I chose to neglect them, and I suffered.
With time and oodles of trial and error, I gradually learnt to finally listen to my body, the signals and most of what it was trying to tell me.
Of course, the process is ongoing, there are days I feel perfectly aligned and then there are those where I could eat mountains of food and then wonder, what was that all about?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SWIPE left for 6 easy tips to get started with intuitive eating 👉

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ayurvedic cooking for beginners: Let's begin with removing a tiny tension when starting to get acquainted with a 'new sort of cuisine'. 👉 Note: You won't need to spend a lot of money for exotic ingredients.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like with all things new, I highly recommend easing in slowly on the subject of ayurvedic cooking and just getting started with the basics.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Back then, in my early 20's, I'd miss my mum's cooking, I'd call her and get myself the necessary ingredients. Gradually my tiny collection became a little bigger 😊️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Starting out, it is all that's important is to get your hands on the most repeated and 'crucial' spices for most let me say 'Indian-Ayurvedic' dishes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember, you can always add spices and stuff to your pantry, the shops aren't going anywhere - lol!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As an intro and just to try some stuff, you'll do brilliantly with just a few basics, so you can keep adding to them as you grow keener and get into the subject more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here is my list of recommendations, a lot of them dry and fresh products, surely some of you will already have in your larder

Homemade ginger tea ✨ Swipe to see the recipe 👉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ginger is the universal herb in Ayurvedic Medicine. It is cleansing and detoxifying to the body, enhances digestion, stimulates the appetite & digestive fire.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ginger tea’s heating properties and qualities make it useful for treating Vata imbalances, such as digestive issues, because it improves all three phases of gastrointestinal function (digestion, absorption, and elimination).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Indeed, consuming ginger facilitates morning elimination in a very natural way 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Oh, and don't forget to save this post so you can always come back to this healing recipe 🌟
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is why spices are so important in Ayurveda ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The purpose of an Ayurveda lifestyle is first and foremost about maintaining a healthy life and keeping the three Doshas in balance.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each spice has a specific effect on one or more of the doshas. According to the traditional healing art, an imbalance of these three vital energies is the cause of everyday ailments. As a result, this imbalance could lead to disease.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Therefore, spices and herbs are used as daily remedies and can be easily integrated into everyday life. At best, the spices prevent imbalances and diseases. How easy is that, to prevent disease? What a 'low-hanging' fruit as one would say in business terminology. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The spices you use in your meals have a bigger impact on your well-being than you probably think. Most of us use them to add flavor to something, in reality, they do much more for you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spices can improve your digestion, reduce inflammation, and s much more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the upcoming posts, I will share more about the power of spices and herbs with you 🧡Let me know if you have any questions so I can answer them for you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
