WICam in her persist of proper SRHR ,girls and women are continuously educated on SRHR practices.

This session focused on Menstrual Hygiene Management, and proper disposal of used sanitary pads in school. With the new latrine block in place, girls were encouraged to make good use and keep it clean to maintain good sanitation practice.

WICam continue to accompany girls/women in building their capacity to make informed decisions about their SRHR through compréhensive SRHR Education.

Women Inspire Cameroon (WICam) in partnership with the US Embassy in Cameroon successfully handed a block of newly constructed latrines to Government Bilingual High School Koutaba.
This facility will be used by more than 2000 students and 100 teachers. Girls tend to absent school during menstruation due to lack of a safe space to comfortably change. This continuous absence lead to poor academic performance at the end of a school year.

This new latrines will provide a safe space for girls attending school during menstruation and generally increase school academic performance. Hygiene related diseases hope to be reduced.

Students are educated on good Menstrual Hygiene Management in school and how to sustainably keep the latrines clean.

WICam joins girls and women in the world to celebrate the 2024 International Women's Day.

This year's theme is INVEST IN WOMEN: ACCELERATE PROGRESS.

Encouraging everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalized communities is a positive step.

WASH in school enhances the well being of children and their families. It contribute towards healthy and secure school environment that can protect children from illness, abus and exclusion.

Menstrual Hygiene Management in school is a critical component of Sexual Reproductive Health and an important entry point for adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights programming.

WICam promotes hygiene and health among the students by constructing girls and boys friendly latrines in GBHS KOUTABA.

WICam took part in a training organised by WAIH Cameroon in Yaounde, to strengthen the capacity of its staff and some community based associations.
Topics learnt were Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights needs assessment, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right/ Gender Equality, strategic planning and Business Development.

Thank you WAIH for the opportunity we are grateful for this new knowledge gained and hope it will aid us improve our work.

WICam is glad to work with the staff and students of GBHS KOUTABA on a WASH project to improve hygiene ,sanitation and menstrual hygiene management in school.
A project meeting between the Principal and teachers of GBHS KOUTABA and WICam was held , a site was provided for the construction of friendly latrines for boys and girls. Students learnt the basics of menstruation and things to expect with menstruation.

This one year project is funded by the American Embassy Cameroon.

Women Inspire Cameroon (WICam) joins the international community to celebrate this year's Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023 under the theme: Making Menstruation a normal fact of life by 2023. Together with students of the St Joseph Evening High School Ezazou, Yaounde, WICam lead a session on Menstrual Hygiene Management. During the question and answer session the student with the correct answer went home with a packet of disposal sanitary pad.

Women Inspire Cameroon (WICam) joins the rest of the world to celebrate World's AIDS Day 2022 under the theme: "putting ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV". At St Joseph's Evening High School Ezazou Yaounde, WICam sensitised the students on different modes of HIV transmission, prevention and some vulnerabilities related to HIV.
WICam work with adolescents on Comprehensive Sexuality Education and HIV, aimed at empowering young person's to take informed decisions about their sexual health and where to obtain services related to SRHR.
Students exchanged and shared information on HIV and promised to sensitise their families and communities while taking opportunity of the free HIV testing tomorrow to voluntarily test and know their status.

Women Inspire Cameroon (WICam) carried out a special ChildFriendly hygiene/sanitation and environmental sanitation education in some primary schools in the Noun Division of the West Region. Sanitation in primary schools is key in today's changing and challenging environment.
The hygiene and sanitation sensitization was aimed to enhance the well being of the children and their families, contribute to a secure health and school environment that protect children and teachers from illness.
Children were excited to know what to do to avoid harmful germs and avoid getting sick.
A great need exist for child friendly hygiene and sanitation facilities in schools.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education is important for Young people

Quality comprehensive sexual health education is an essential component to students physical, social and emotional development. Women Inspire Cameroon engagés in community sensitization on sexual health and life skills to assist especially young people to acquire the right information and make informed decisions about their sexuality while voluntarily visiting the health services.
Women Inspire Cameroon intend to empower young people through it's sexual education in schools and community to delay start of sexual activities, and grow healthy relationships.
Students of St Joseph Evening School Ezazou were trilled on HIV and sexual health. A lot of education is needed in this field to ensure students, girls, youths, women have the right information.

My journey on Sexual Reproductive Health has been a long one. Starting from women's sensitisation on PMTCT, HIV, SRH and family planning from the villages of Awing, Pinyin and Santa in the North West Region and West Region and now in Yaounde .

Together let's end period poverty. Happy menstruation day 2022 girls and women. Let us in our small way support these girls and women to have a stress-free period.
