ISA's inquiry-based teaching takes place not only in the classroom, but also outside the classroom, where students and teachers explore the world through immersive experiences, gain direct knowledge of the world through interactive activities, and develop IB learner profile attributes.

In November, students from ISA Science City went on various filed trips. They experienced camping, surfing, rock climbing, hiking, tea picking, cave exploration and other activities. They also went to the fire station and subway museum to learn something through first-hand experience.

As autumn brings a chill to us, we held a Sports Day in ISA’s many campuses. By engaging in the challenging and fun events, students demonstrate their perseverance and courage and learn how to cooperate with other teammates.

On October 31, Character Day was celebrated at ISA schools. Students dressed up as their favourite characters, bringing a visual feast for us.

Inquiry learning is an important part of the IB programme, which emphasises students’ initiative and innovation and encourages them to think deeply about what they have learnt, with the aim to develop global citizens who have an international outlook and leadership skills and are capable of solving complex problems. In September, ISA students went on a Shamian Island filed trip to explore the area’s rich history, and started a new journey of Unit of Inquiry to learn about types of food groups, healthy habits, physical health and mental wellbeing.

As the summer heat fades away, our new school year has arrived. After a fantastic summer vacation, ISA has opened a brand new chapter. The first day of school brings with it new expectations and hopes for both our older students who return to school and those new students who have just joined ISA. On the first day of school, ISA welcomed every student and looks forward to growing with them and creating wonderful memories together.

Before the new school year, ISA held the Orientation Day for all 2023-2024 new families. They were offered the opportunity to meet the teachers and consult information about school life, which helped students learn more about the school and readily fit in.

In this summer, ISA students spent a wonderful time learning new things and making new friends.

From August 6 to 17, new students of ISA Liwan spent two weeks on an unforgettable journey during the transition camp. The camp's curriculum not only offers learning of new knowledge and skills but also helps students develop strong teamwork and communication skills.

On August 10-11, students from Guangzhou Foreign Language School's IBDP Summer Transition Camp stepped out of the classroom and went into nature for two-day and one-night outdoor exploration activities.

Outside the classroom, ISA organized diverse field trips, offering students ample chances to explore the unknown. Field trips are integral to IB teaching and align with ISA's vision of Inquire·Succeed·Act.

In the past days, ISA students visited forest parks, art theatres, aviation bases, science centres, and more. These experiences allowed them to expand their horizons, deepen their understanding of knowledge and theory, foster teamwork, and enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

On June 3, 2023, the first graduates from Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme had their graduation ceremony. As the first graduates of GZFLS ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme, the students experienced countless "firsts" with the school and matured together. These three years have been special and challenging for the graduates, but they are undoubtedly cared for and rewarded immensely.
We hope that the graduates will continue to give full play to the characteristics of IB learners, maintain their enthusiasm and courage, explore new knowledge, and create an even more exciting future!

Three years ago, ISA Science City was officially launched. The students who joined Grade 10 that year began their three-year high school career with aspirations for the future. Now, three years later, they were crowned and presented with their diplomas at the graduation ceremony in the presence of their most gracious teachers, families, special guests and the entire Secondary School community.👏👏

We do not nurture students who are only interested in their grades, but rather we find the best in each child and strive to make them into lifelong learners with a combination of talent, leadership, empathy and global vision. In these six graduates, we see their qualities shining through and we believe that they too will be able to make their own way in the future! 🎉🎉

Students are encouraged to integrate what they learn in the school with the development needs of the community by participating in projects or activities that aim to help others and develop a sense of responsibility and care for the community. 💚
ISA combines curriculums with the charity programmes, such as Charity Walkathon, Visiting children with hearing-impaired, Charity Booth in the ISA Festival etc. Students have the opportunity to lead and organize charity events and improve their leadership, problem-solving and teamwork skills. 🙌

Student Project Exhibition is an important part of ISA teaching. Y5 students in ISA Tianhe and G10 students in ISA Science City displayed their project through various ways on campus to communicating their findings. 👏👏

Reading good books not only nourishes our inner peace but also enriches our souls. World Book Day was celebrated on 23rd April. In April, ISA Schools held various reading week/reading month activities, to guide the students to feel the charm of books and the fun of reading!

On 7 April, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Guangzhou and held a "Meeting with Chinese Youth" event at Sun Yat-sen University. Keira Long, a student at Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme, was invited to participate in this event as one of the only secondary school student team members in the audience!👏👏

In ISA Festival, the annual grand festival of ISA, students and their families, teachers, guests from consulates, business chambers, enterprises and other industries gathered in ISA Science City Campus, enjoying the multicultural bazaar and performances from all members of the ISA Community.

ISA International Teachers delivered English demo classes of various subjects to students of Hengrun Experimental School on the theme of ‘What skills we have cannot be replaced by AI in the ChatGPT era’.
